Whether it's designing a nursery for your new baby, or a revamp of your child's bedroom, decorating for kids is so much fun! The possibilities are limitless, from understated neutrals or rich, elegant shades, to bold, lively colors, and there are so many things to consider: paint, carpet, window furnishings, furniture, linen....This is the room your child will spend more time in than any other, so it's really worth taking the time to make it a space that they love.

To help you design the perfect space for your wee prince or princess, we're putting together a special feature on decorating for kids with tips ranging from where to start, right through to those finishing touches that make it a space that is uniquely theirs.

Over the past few months we've seen some amazing pics of the creative things some of you have done in your childrens bedrooms: wall art; handmade cots and change tables; stencilling; hand painted furniture... There's nothing quite like a room created with love by Mummy and Daddy.

We'd love to see pictures of what you've done to make your child's space special! Email them to us at emma@ohbaby.co.nz and we'll add them to our Inspiration Gallery due to go live on the 4 June!

And keep an eye out for our awesome Bedroom Makeover competition coming up soon - details will be released next week!

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Awesome! I was thinking of her gorgeous cot as I was writing the article

I was gonna add some pics of the gremlins room but realised the only ones I have are from before they were born and the mattresses are still wrapped in plastic so time for some updated ones I think! And will have to get Maya to tidy hers before I even go near it Altho I bought her some funky new winter blankets today which will look wicked

Emma, is it ok to send some stuff to you that "nana and grandad" have made???

Our cot was made his grandad and Andrew's quilt was made by nana (my parents).

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Absolutely! That's awesome! I love heirloom stuff, my girls have some knitted dresses that Mum made for me when I was a baby that are so precious.
