It is NOT nice out there....I'm even starting to get a little (just a litte) bit freaked out. Think I've watched Twister one too many times.
Two motorcyclists were blown off thier bikes on the harbour bridge!

Yep, sure is windy. I get a bit freaked as well when a big gust comes through and makes the chimney rattle, as I can visulise the roof flying off the house!

I'm at work at the moment and we take calls for a window repair company and had this lady call us from somewhere in Auckland with a broken window needing urgent attention and I could HEAR the wind in the background!! I was scared for her!!! It sounded so freaky! For once, Wellington doesn't have any of the 'hard stuff'

we went down to countdown tonight and the doors broke with the wind while we were in there....blew so hard one blew off its hinges and poor security guard had to try and fix it while holding it back = and they were BIG suckers.
The intersection at botany had lights flying around like i havent seen since snow was coming in usa...
and the car was being blown around while we sat at the lights - and mums is a heavy stationwagon!!! it was fair rocking!!!
Have shut all the upstairs windows as they keep blowing out...and hopefully we wont be blown away like dorothy in middle of the night!!!

I saw that about the motorcyclists, but I mean, seriously, who would even TRY to ride a bike across the bridge in winds like this? Willie's 46 foot truck and trailer unit was struggling to stay on the road, so a bike has no chance.
Glad you got back from your walk in one piece Ginger!

It's fairly windy in Palmy tonight so it may be on it's way to you.

Goodness me, the streets are a bit of a mess this morning. Lots of huge Pohutukawa branches have snapped off and there is debris all over the road.
I too had major trouble walking yesterday afternoon. I reckon it was worse than anything I ever experienced when I lived in Wgtn a few years ago.

Our back lawn and driveway is a mess, the one problem about having a reserve behind us and lots of trees. Doesn't look like any have fallen over luckily.

We lost a couple of pot plants, DH was out last night night trying to move them all into the garage! Poor thing!! Our back fence is a little worse for wear, think it may have taken a battering, its got an interesting lean on it now, and dont think it will take much of a gust for it to blow over. (No hope of getting the landlord to fix it this century - we have been here over a year and are still waiting for our fireplace to be fixed!!) Lost the odd branch, but generally not too bad here. I was laying in bed wondering what we would do if the roof flew off?!?!
