The school Andrew is current at he is in a Y2 class (he is 6 in April).

We are possibly moving from this area in 6 weeks, which will mean he will have to change schools (and I know it is a shame we can't do it at the beginning of the next term).

Would his new school put him into a Y2 class or will he be Y1??? I really don't want him to go backwards IYKWIM?? I know he is already reading above the "norm" for a 6 year old and his maths is at the 6 year range already. It is only his writing that he is not at his age or above.

Does anyone know what the new school may do if we do move???

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Hi Mummybecks

No real idea what other schools do but I know that the school where i work, if the child comes from a Y2 class they are put into a year 2 class (unless the parents want otherwise). I would imagine that most schools will keep them at the same year level?

Sorry not much help :-)

Why would he be put in a year one class. If he started school in April last year, then he was in year one last year, and year two this year. Maybe I am missing something from being out of practice?

I'm not a teacher but I'd say he'd definitely be put in year 2. There are still 5 year olds in Alia's class but they are considered year 2.

Sweet thanks for that Idid think he would stay Y2.

Now to work out what school he may be going to.
