   Suri Cruise's 2nd birthday bash
This kind of waste of money actually really p!sses me off. Not just because I don't have that kind of money to spend myself but imagine paying $45,000 for food and buying over 1000 butterflies and spending on all the other stuff just for a 2 yo birthday party when there are children in the world starving, freezing, in abusive families etc.

I agree... I couldn't waste that much money. I'd rather spend it on saving the planet than buying more junk to litter it with.

All i think is, they get paid multiple millions per movie they do, if each multi millionaire donated 1mil to a fund for starving countires, there wouldnt be such a thing.

i totally agree kandice!!!!   all those stars go on about doing good for charity...well why don't they give more?? we all know they have it!
but in saying that....if i was a 'cruise' and thank god i'm not...i'd go nuts spending heaps on my kids AND give crap loads to charity. i'd find a nice blend of both. but i probably wouldn't go THAT overboard on the kids |

I think the expensive several tier birthday cake plus a single cake for each guest was OTT. Plus the cost in general but (yes there is a but) I'd love to see Michaela's face if we had heaps of butterflies flying around her - then again knowing her she'd probably try and pop them (like bubbles).

we dont know how much they give to charities every year...for all we know they already give millions but typically the media doesnt want to report that.
and perhaps like us they are just trying to live up to parent expectations of parties too. a bit like nowadays you take your kid to a party and there are the party bags and games and competitions where every one gets a prive, castles, entertainment. then your child and other parents expect that too... perhaps in hollywood it is the same only on a larger scale.

There's an awesome butterfly house exhibit at the dunedin museum at the moment, pity you're not closer. We went there when visiting my dad, the butterflies can land on you and all, and they're all tropical varieties. Seb loved it!

I agree!! And fact is a lot of these actors do give a fair hunk of thier money away. Also realistically $100K for them would probably be the equivalent of a us spending a few hundred.
Hell if I earned hundreds of millions every year I'd probably go nuts too....I think anyone would!

I would buy the world for my girls if i could, to be honest it is completely their money, they have worked for it, i cant stand tom cruise but have to admit hes a fantastic actor, and i mean they also do have to put up with the media and paparazzi so how they spend their money is their decision, different if they were on the dole etc

If I was that rich, I would be that extravagant in a second. What fun! We can't all be martyrs for the world.
