After washing our clothes I have noticed that anything black is coming out with white marks, someone told me that the washing machine isn't rinsing properly, so I thought that I might try and clean the inside, but how the heck do I do that?

You could try a hot wash with whitner in it only??? I have done that and also a few rinses and added some Dettol to the rinse |

Does it have a filter? The filter could be chocka. Empty that, then do a hot wash (empty) that should sort it out.

Mine started doing that and it was on it's last legs I ended up selling it on TM to some guy who wanted a separate machine to wash his smelly fishing gear in.
Mind you, it was pretty old. It depends how old yours is, it might be fixable. I was just told it was a sign I needed a new machine.

Mine did that, so I put the powder in before any of the clothes went in and it stopped. Turns out the stupid powder wasnt dissolving properly amongst the clothes.

Hot wash with white vinegar and some baking soda and no washing. then hot wash with just hot water. Cleans it up a treat. Also you may need to take out fab softener dispenser and clean it out (gross) but if you put white vinegar in there onnce or twice a week (makes towels soft as) it will keep both your machine and your fab softener dispenser clean.

Yeah sounds like scrud which is the build up of fabric softener in the machine. It happens more often when you do a lot of cold washes but can happen with warm/hot ones as well.
My washing machine cleaning instructions are as follows:
 (from F&P instruction manual)

 fill machine with hot water.
Add 2 cups of powdered detergent that contains phosphate
Let it agitate for 10 - 15 minutes
stop the machine and open the lid and leave it to soak overnight
After soaking drain the machine and run it through a regular cycle

When we got our machine second hand it had so much scrud buildup we had to clean the dispenser, centre stalk etc in the bath and then scrub out the barrel so if you can see the waxy buildup then you may need to do the same.
