Jake loves these, but I think he is too young at the momment (i.e I can't be bothered supervising him for the hours he will spend getting on, getting off, getting on, getting off). But we were thinking of getting one next year for a combined xmas present for the boys. Now, I really want one with the "cage" but Lewis sees it as a wrestling cage, so no doubt it will tip. Friends of ours have an ordinary one that is dug in the ground, but apprently one of the twins constantly hides under there at bath time and they are resorting to poking him out with sticks.

So tramps..good idea or not? what age? and what kind?

I dunno if this is possible but can you get tramps that have sides that can be removed. That way while hes little hes got the safety of the sides then when the kids are bigger and know the dangers etc they can be removed so they can't just bounce of the walls hehe

Nope, I hate them. But it doesn't help that I totally screwed my leg and knee on one at school (I know they are extra bouncy but still the images are in my head). My friend also broke her arm on one when we on it together.

I will never get one (i say this now) for my kids.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

we had them when we were about eight - bounced off many times, many injuries and have to say pads arent always a help - I would wait til he is a lot older unless he listens well to rule restrictions etc and you are willing to get out there (and on there) with him???
BTW ours was dug into ground and concreted in corners to stop it moving - we gave up with the mowing thing and mum used to use weedeater under it cause it meant at least it was safer for us to bounce on

I had a trampoline from when I was little - not dug in the ground, no walls, no pads even. I never broke anything. When I got older I was doing full flips on it too!! I guess it depends on your parenting philosophies - I personally will get one if we can afford it, as I reckon too many things like this have been taken away from kids today cos everyone has got all PC and over-safety conscious. Bring back bullrush I say!!

They have the little ones wtih the bars on special at farmers this week for 69.99 if that helps. They also sell mini ones at Kmart with sides on them. We will get one for the boys once we move to a larger house, as we had one when we grew up and none of us five were ever hurt on it. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. M is nine and he is fine unsupervised however Jb is only 4 and a half and Iwouldn't leave him on there on his own.

I would be very very surprised if my cousin can have children now due the the amount of extreeemely painful looking accidents he had on his as a child. We always had hours of fun on it- it meant we were outside (not watching TV) and getting huge amounts of exercise which IMHO is a very good thing. I don't ever remember hurting myself. I think those ones with sides look great and much safer- when we move back to NZ we will definitely be getting one

Charlotte is at an age now (whenever we go to places that have them) that she absolutely loves them and spends ages on them so I would think about 2 1/2 is a good age if you are prepared to supervise.

Personally I agree!! When our kids are old enough to follow rules and guidelines using a tramp I'll be happy for them to have one. I'd still invest in the pads or cage or similar. I also like the idea of digging them into the ground.

I spent hours on them as a kid and never had an accident and didn't know of anyone who did.

I also agree that it can be another great way to get kids outside and having fun!

We had one as kids and loved it! It was so well used that it had to be repaired about 5 times before we eventually passed it on.
We had all kinds of minor injuries but it never put us off and I think if we can afford it our kids will definitely be getting one.

The worst that ever happened to me was the constant electric shocks getting off - until I learnt to just jump all the way off!

We had one when I was a kid from when I was quite young, I think around 5 so my brothers and sisters must have been even younger.

Maya got a tramp for her 2nd birthday and she loves it. She is really good with the rules tho, when she has friends over she bosses them around and tells them "one at a time" and I only let her on it when she is supervised.
