Topic: I havent been very nice :o( Posted: 26 April 2007 at 10:55pm |
I have been a bit of a cow to my family lately (to put it politely). Maya is driving me up the proverbial wall, she goes thru phases of being really, really destructive and grouchy, and then she is really settled for a while, then horrid again. And right about now she is horrid. The pen on the couch, telling me she's going to kick me, screeching in the babies faces....
And Willie has been hopeless. I had the babies on the floor in the lounge while I ran a bath and Mercedes kicked Sienna in the head (nice sister!) and she started screaming, and Willie just sat there like they weren't two inches in front of his nose and kept right on watching the news
So I have been feeling generaly grouchy, I'm not sleeping well which I'm sure doesn't help, and I have the gremlins 24-7 without a break, and so I'm feeling a bit like the whole lot of them can go and get sodded.
So I went to the hairdresser tonight for some obviously much-needed me time. I raced around to get the kids ready for bed so I could be at the hairdresser by 7, the house was an absolute tip, the traffic was a shocker and I arrived feeling very stressed. Spent the whole two hours I was at the hairdresser complaining about what a useless DP I have, and what a PITA my kids are (mostly Maya, but the little ones too).
And then I came home. And Willie has tidied away all the kids toys. And done the dishes. And put Maya to bed. And even washed and sterilised the gremlins bottles. So now my hair looks brilliant, I have a clean, tidy house and three beautiful sleeping princesses and poor old Willie is crashed out on the couch so I can't even go and eat my slice of humble pie. Feeling very, very humble indeed. Me thinks I ought to be grateful for all the good things I've got instead of wallowing in my own self-pity.

sometimes you have to have a pity party to be able to come back and appreciate the good things. but that is awsome of willie to give you a wee break and do all those things for you.
hope you have been able to recharge your batteries ready for another go now.
oh and i so hear you on the evil oldest problems! xanthe has turned into a tyrant at the moment, it is driving me bonkers! it took me 3 hours to clean her room yesterday, with her sitting and crying the whole time ( you would thinnk she would like having some floor back! )

I personally think a good bitch and moan is healthy. Can you imagine how everyone would be if we kept everything bottled up all the time. I think heads would literally explode.
I'm glad you took time out for yourself, I have three kids of very different ages and they drive around the bend, so I can't imagine how you find it with kids so young.
And Yay for Willie getting off his butt and tidying up. I have amanjust like him and every now and then he surprises me, but not often, just enjoy the moment and don't feel guilty.

Emma, I soo dont know how you do it! Im lucky my mum takes my kids whenever my stress levels get too high, which is usally around once a month. A night away from them and no one screaming mum at me is bliss.
So dont feel guilty about being pissed at them getting on your nerves, show me one child that doesnt harrass their mother from time to time...
And yay for Willie doing the house work etc. That would have been so nice to come home to.
Getting a new hairdo is great too aye.

Glad that you had a nice surprise when you got home from the hairdressers. I don't think that you were mean or that you should have to eat humble pie. A good moan is great for getting things off your chest and making you feel better and it was a bonus that you got home and Willie had done lots for you. Hugs You do such a great job and you are inspirational to lots of us on here Emma.

Haha Emma, I have been eating humble pie myself this week. Finally realised that although my hubby is not always the best at housework and is constantly late home he is a wonderful and devoted husband and father and I shouldnt complain about him, life is to short for me to spend it moaning and b*tching

Awwww Emma sometimes things get on top of me too, I'm glad you got a nice time out last night and hopefully that's helped recharge you - especially after Willie making you feel a bit supported, that must have been a nice surprise!
Sounds like Miss Maya might need a bit of discipline for her mouthing off?? Firm and swift is the key

I am pleased you had some "YOU" time, it was well deserved. I just don't know how you do it to be honest. You certaily looked charged, maybe it is just what you needed!
I think your DP could come and teach my DP a few lessons!

Awww, you are all so sweet! I spent a terrifically naughty day today with a group of OHbaby! mums spending far too much money in Pumpkin Patch and scaring away the customers in Robert Harris, feeling exhausted but also a lot happier!
