Topic: A Question from my DH Posted: 04 July 2006 at 11:35am |
DH has asked me very nicely if I can ask a question for him. It's quite cute really. He thinks it's cool how I've met a couple of people off here and also from nzweddingplanner and that they are normal people! (meaning not screwed up and psycho lol)
He was wondering if any of your DH/DF/Partners meet other friends on places like this. Reason he's asking is that many of his friends have left the area and he wants to meet some more mates (fair enough too) but these days it's a bit harder to make friends outside of work. Everything is online these days! So far he's just been making friends with my girl friends partners but most don't share anything in common with him. Like he likes watching rugby etc (believe it or not that my girl friends man's don't really do this at all lol)

My other mate is a computer whiz and has met up with several people from online - but mainly women. Men chatting to other men doesn't seem as comon

Yeah men don't chat to other men online much it seems which is what annoys him because I've met some really awesome people online and yet all DH gets is psychos or sex offers lol

Men are a different bunch!
My man does not met people on sites..he doesnt have the time. I think maybe he would if he did tho.
We are meeting some nice partners of girls through the walking group and Im sure we will meet a couple of new peeps through Antenatal tonight.

Yeah rich has said to me that when we do actually have kids he can't wait to go to antenatal classes so he can meet some guys at the same stage of life as himself..
But men make it difficult for themselves online I think. They can't be seen trying to chat with guys because then the other guys may think hes gay which isnt acceptable so they have to chat with women then complain when they have no guys mates

My sister's boyfriend is a forum addict on the performance car site and on oldskool.co.nz, he's made a few friends on there.
I think most guys on forums are a bit younger and act like idiots, therefore older guys (ie your DH, kebakat) don't bother.
But anyway, it's a good idea to make friends with your friends partners. Kills two birds with one stone Hopefully he finds someone to hang with while you girls gossip away

hmm nah my dh isnt interested in chatting online at all, infact I say as little as possible to him about it cos he has this perception that people online might be a bit dangerous - so old school I know and totally silly, he just doesnt understand teh whole online community thing, and I must admit before i joined NZWP I would never have considered meeting friends online so I guess it's an education thing maybe....?

Mine doesn't even know how to use the computer... which is funny considering how much time I spend on it. Still, he spends a lot of time in a truck, and I can't drive one of those so i guess it evens out...
But a friend I met online's DP met some guys thru a surfing website and met up with them when we we all had a girlie meet up in Qld in May.

I remember Emma started a "dad's" section. I don't think anyone came on did they? To tell the truth, I would prefer Lewis did not have access to this website. He'd see what I write about him.

A dad's section although is a good idea it wouldn't work, just like on nzweddingplanner there is a guys section which ive noticed has had about 3 guys say one thing in the past couple of years lol. I don't think it would get much interest.

my hubby isnt interested in chatting online either and I wouldnt want him on this site to be honest plus he doesnt really know how much time I spend on here. I wouldnt like him to be in a chat room just incase, you hear so many things about people hooking up online hehehe. He has met a few hubbies of the ladies Ive meet on the internet though.

My hubby is always on online motorsport forum or similar, BUT they never "chat" its always strictly car related! We did have a dad on here a few months ago but we must have scared him away!

My hubby is the same - thinks chatting online is for chicks .
We were really keen to stay in touch with the couples from our Antenatal group but the slack as tutor STILL hasn't sent out the contact details and it's been over a month now . I have no idea of any other way to get hold of anyone from our class
