they just showed the house on the news too....
have to say i hope there is no protection order involved - cause that is my pet project of going the police who do nothing til it is too late!!!

and also we see too many cases of "if i cant have you / my kids then noone will" or "i will make you suffer by making sure you lose the one thing that matters the most to you [the kids]"
 - we see a lot of that...and the chch bristol case (Dad killed his kids to punish the mother) years ago - the reason for the Domestic violence laws we now have - was a clear example of that...breaks my heart to see innocent children used as pawns in their parents adult games / issues.

ok rant over - i deal with this every day but it still bugs me BIG time!!!

Just read an updated report and realised that the kids are all the same ages as mine! The very sad thing is that because the three year old didn't get major injuries, she will remember the incident for a long, long time. Hannah was just recalling over dinner tonight, some of the things that happened around Christmas time, like when our van overheated on the way back from her grandparents' on Christmas Day.
I doubt those kids will get to see their dad again in a very long time |

I was absolutely devastated when I heard this on the news last night . I just can't fathom how anyone let alone a parent can even consider hurting a child let alone in this way!!!
It seriously makes me wonder what sort of society I am raising my children up in. Worse the SOB won't get nearly what he should in terms of a sentence.

I just heard the baby is only 7 weeks old! He and one sister are still in serious condition - the other has been released. A samoan family recently moved into the home and not yet known to neighbours...
He is on a holding charge but am sure more will come - lets hope one charge is not murder / manslaughter. Poor wee bubs.

I am sure more about the family will slip out in next few days too....Im hoping he has mental health condition and this is not a pattern of violence but guess we will see...

I read that and got goosebumps. It is incomprehensible for me to think how anyone could do that. Did anyone read the unicef report on NZ? we in nz have a sickening record of not protecting our kids., I hope that the report makes the judge in this case think more carefully about the sentence this guy receives.

I kinda hope he does not have a mental illness otherwise he can plead insainty. Granted you have to be insain to do something like that, but he so deserves to be thrown in jail for the REST of his life. If we had not closed all you phcyh home's and we knew he would never be released into the community again it would be fine, but let's be honest in about 10 year's he will be out. Argh the justice system sux ass.

Unfortunately they are trying to outlaw smacking to resolve these things Don't they realise that true violence is already outlawed?!? *smacks head against wall*
I'm hoping he gets convicted for attempted murder (attempted only) and definitely nothing to do with manslaughter. What he has done is incredibly violent and cruel. Imagine how the mother felt, waiting and hiding in a car until the Police came, knowing what may have been going on inside? I would hate to feel that helpless for such small and precious kids. |

Oh dont start me on the mental health system and the closure of the residential hospitals...Kingseat and the like should have remained open...we see far too many mental health patients out there and so many are breeding (sorry to sound blunt on that!!) and starting a new generation of the same problems but without any assistance in place....soemthing to be said for psych institutions remaining open as long term / permanent residential units!!!
Just heard he is having a psych assessment - a normal process but one that will come back either he was under mental health defect or under influence of P or similar (DO NOT get me started on P either...) as short term mental health....

The poor mother and their family...Im still hoping the baby pulls through ok...sounded horrific injuries!!!
