I have always complained that I have been paying out for this for the last 5 years but never used it, well it has just paid for itself! My big fur baby (Damon my cat) has a blocked bladder and is currently at the vets, $250 for after hours vet last night and now $1K approx for today! I am so glad I did not cancel this especially with having the expenses of a wedding coming up!

Thats great Red! How much do you think you have paid over the 5 years?
Can I ask how much it costs you each week/month? We recently had our cat at the vet and walked away with a bill just over 2K!

It is approx $250 a year, premiums have gone up slightly from when I started paying out so have prob paid about $1K in premiums so far. The insurance I use is Ellenco and their webpage is www.petplan.co.nz if you want to go and suss it out, I have the Ultra plan which covers 80% of most things. Gets expensive if you have a few pets but as I just have the one it is not too bad.

I have Paws to thank actually cos she initially told me about it ages ago.

We really ought to re-insure our lot....4 cats gets pricey though!! but then a bill is even pricier!

Hope D is all better soon!

Just rang and he is okay, once he can urinate by himself and his catheter has come out we can go and get him. But I wasn't happy about was that there was two dogs in there and he hates dogs so prob didn't help with his stress! I thought they could have been a bit more considerate as the dogs weren't actually patients they belonged to the staff. He had to go to the after hours vet again cos our vet closed till tuesday would have been better if he could have stayed in the same place.

It is very quiet without my little buddy around.

ohh - I hope he gets better soon, my cat had something similar last year - the poor wee thing, now he has to eat special food to stop him getting the crystals in his bladder.

lucky you had insurance, we didn't and it cost heaps too
