   Hey all.
Over the last two days when I stand up I'm getting this gush of liquid - not wees, smells very different and the smell is kinda overpowering. It's enough to soak through whatever I'm wearing. There's no blood or pain. I'm quite concerned that this might be waters leaking - but I wanted to check in with other ladies before bothering my MW on a Sunday in case it's normal.

Has anyone had anything similar? I'm trying not to freak out about it!

   Hey Rachel,
My personal opinion woulbe to get it checked out. There are little sticks like the ones the mws check the urine with, these can tell if what you're leaking is amniotic fluid. This can be done on a Sunday and your midwife is there for these type of things, so don't feel bad about calling her.
It's always best to get professional advice, rather than wait, potentially have something bad happen and then feel terrible because you didn't do anything about it.
If the mw is concerned she'll bring you in for assessment. Of course she'll probably check you for infection (urine and vaginal) as well, so expect a vaginal swab and don't pee before you go in. Some cases of group B strep and other vaginal infections can give you some amazingly potent and prolific vaginal discharge.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Have spoken to MW and she said put a pad on and monitor it over the next few hours. If I go through a pad in the next few hours I need to go in. And I need to call her again ASAP if I'm concerned about the amount. She didn't sound particularly concerned, so fingers crossed!

I guess you could call it straw like...I've never smelt anything like it before!
I'm keeping a close eye on it but suspect later on today I'll be requesting a MW or goin into A&E so I can get some sleep tonight!

I agree to get it checked jic as that does sound kinda like what happened, but tbh it really could just be your bladder leaking (does do it once bubs is pressing on it!), but definitely where a pad so you can monitor how long it takes to fill and your mw can take a look etc.

Yeah that was how I knew, I hadn't smelt it before!
But mine was pinkish and I had lost my plug about 4 hours before... So kind of an indicator but still a huge shock!

 Goodluck!

Just as an update: Murphy is working his magic on me and there has been no gushing since I put the pad on. Now I feel silly for raising the alarm, but at least it hopefully means it wasn't my waters because if it was I would expect it to have continued?

Good news that it seems to have stopped!!
I agree with the others your waters have a smell un-like anything I'd every smelt before - its a very very odd smell... Made me quite queasy actually All the best!!!
