 Topic: Front loading washing machines

So...our washing machine is packing it in and we decided to get a new one rather than spend a fortune fixing it. We are going to get a front loader because it fits our requirements in terms of power and water usage, space saving and quietness.
It has come down between two models the Whirlpool WFS!285AW and the Fisher n Paykel WH80F60W1.
Does anyone have one of these machines? How are you finding it? Or if you have a great front loader we haven't considered then please let me know what it is.

We have a Whirlpool AWO5761, it's just over 2yrs old. I really like it, it washes everything really well and has a good selection of wash cycles on it. Definately wouldn't go back to a top loader

We have a Bosch, can't remember the type, but it was the cheapest Bosch at Harvey Norman (just under $1000,-). It's 6.5 kgs. I didn't want a 7 or 8 kg washing machine, cause I'll never fill it up. I'm more likely to do a load every other day now I have a baby, than a big load once a week.
We've had it for a year now, and it's been perfect. Loads of different programs, and a short cycle as well. Even on the short cycle my clothes are really clean. (My clothes never seemed clean with a toploader.)

Thanks ladies that's really helpful, I think we'll be going for a Bosch after all. I've done a lot of research and looked at heaps of reviews and there is hardly ever a bad word said about them.

We have a Whirlpool front loader and it's great. Not sure about the models/other brands you're looking at, but worth paying the extra $100 or so to get a machine which has a digital screen showing wash cycle time left - it's a fantastic function. These ones also usually have a 12 or 24 hour wash delay, so you can chuck a load in at night and delay it so it doesn't wash until the next day in the morning or when you get home from work so you don't have wet washing sitting in the machine

we have a bosch 6.5kg here and love it bought it around 3-4 years ago and still going strong.
I usually try and put on a wash at night so it is ready to hang out in the morniing one thing I love about front loaders is the top comes in handy to put things like a top loaderun

we have a bosch and love it BUT a few things to think about - you can ONLY use persil front loader. this came from the manufacturer as well as a repair person - go for the cheaper one and you risk overflowing the tub - putting soap in the motor which then blows up (speaking from experience). and the cycles are long - an hour is the short cycle. we are forever behind in our washing.

We brought our Bosch front loader 7 years ago now and never had any problem at all, they were expensive back then think about $1,500.
