im really frustrated with the fertility clinic here in Dunedin
u know i work at least 9-5 mon- fri so my time is prescious

on occasion i have called in to the clinic

which by the way i find is in a really unfortunate place - on the same floor as the newborn babys (and lots of my clients or friends are there) so u go one way if ur pregnant and the other if u wanna be

anyway - often when i call to the clinic theres no one there

iv rung lots asking who the counsellor is - i read we can see one - but theres either no answer - its engaged - no one is there - then once i got thru they said they dont know who it is - now they say shes on maternity leave but i can see a guy and they dont know if it costs me

ahhh - all i want to know is is there a woman i can talk to and is it free
now they tell me i cant see one till i start my injections in the next few weeks

well pmt is on its way so im about to morph in to psycho wife again- oh dear

its nice to read all ur posts lately - it really feels like a wee community here

 thanks all

 Emile

   Hiya Emile
Sorry to hear you are having a rough time! I am in the process of getting in contact with a few fertility clinics up here in Auckland and it seems to be a general rule that the mess you around! After making several phone calls I have learned that I will be transferred to numerous different people, of course not the person who can actually answer my questions tho!

Interesting that you can't see a counsellor til you start your injections? I would've thought they would prefer you see her first?

I hope everything works out for you, keep harassing them! It seems to be the only way to get thru to them!

 Good luck!
 Anna

The mucking about unfortunately seems to be the difference between public and private. I've gone private, and I've had no problems at all (so far ...touch wood), although I've heared some hairy stories from people who are tangoing with the public system. From what I found out about public, it's a realy mish mash!
Friends of mine went public, and saw a counsellor months before starting their treatment - I find it odd that you wouldn't be able to make contact with one Emilie. Perhaps you could send something in writing...?

There's nothing worse than mucking about when you're dealing with infertility!!

Must confess to having an awkward 'moment' last time I took the gremlins to the paed - he is at Auckland Paediatric centre which is in the same rooms as one of the Fertility Associates Clinics (Simon Rowley). There was a lady in the waiting room and we got to chatting about the babies and I asked if she had kids etc., then she went in to see Simon and when she came out the receptionist asked when she needed to come back and she said "not until I get pregnant". I felt very small and wanted to crawl under a rock - how come I get two (plus Maya) healthy babies and some people don't even get one?

Hey, Im in Dunedin too. Sad to hear the fertility people down here are that bad, we may be needing their services in the not too distant future. I hope you have better luck soon, and hope we can concieve without outside help, although looks rather bleak since we have been trying for over a year. Baby dust all round! |

I agree, great idea. Name the time and place, and I'll be there!
