   Hi girls.
so i've been denied my tube-tying much to my annoyance - i'm under 35 and apparently I might want more kids.. not bloody likely tbh, but anyway, now we're looking for somewhere in CHCH that does vasectomies! Has anyones hubbies had this done down here and can give advice? Like, how much does it cost etc etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I dont want to go on the pill, cant afford implants/IUD etc so the snip is the best option for us - and yes, he agrees! hehe.

 TIA :D

Talk to your m/w as the hospital should have a clinic for that, she maybe able to help.
I worked in a pvt men's clinic in AK & it cost $360 approx & that was a few yrs ago.

Not sure what the criteria is at the hospital but it would be free, I would start there.

Can you not push the hospital to change their mind? They were practically falling over themselves to do mine when I had lil miss, and I was only 28 then!

Glad your DH agrees. My Dad managed to scare the cr@p out of my DH by telling him his horror story from when he got his Theres probably 5 guys in NZ who have had bad vasectomies and one of them HAS to be my Dad....
(Part of it was he didn't know about the magic pill they put up his bum lol. He went home and exercised. Then drank a few beers cos he felt fine, then him and Mum had to eewwwww check it still worked the next morning and then the next 3 days he couldn't walk LOL. Apparently he was bruised down to his knees and up to his belly button)

   LOL!!!! silly dad huh :P
Matt suggested it after the hospital said no. He doesnt want to pay hundreds of dollars for on-going contraceptions which is fair enough too!
My step-dad has been trying to scare him about his bad vasectomy as well (20 years ago) but Matt doesnt care, he said anything is better than an unwanted pregnancy and he's so right. We had a good laugh this afternoon reading up about the prep for the surgery - he's got to shave all his pubes off so he said would I help. Course I will - i'll happily get the wax out bwhaha!

Hey call family planning and they should send you in the right direction. I am looking into IUD's. If we go copper then it is free if we do mirena it is $300 and something. So if money is tight this might be an option. Family planning should know about vasectomies as well.

Kent didnt have to shave at all, but as i said he had it done by laser, not with a scapel, so make sure you check all the options.
kent took 20mins, done saturday morning, back at work monday morning, apart from the drugs they gave him on the day and i think 2 doses of panadol, he was all good

dean had his done a lil while ago at a place in merivale....can't remember what it was called, 'merivale medical centre' perhaps (funnily enough )
it was $90 for the first consultation, then about $210-250 for the actual procedure. it took 20-25mns and he recovered really quickly

DH had his done in January at Men's Medical on Fitzgerald Ave, costing him about $360.
But totally worth it - as we are all in the clear now! Woop woooop!
