Hey everyone! Is anyone from Taupo...I'm not sure about my midwife-I've been told she'll be good at the birth but thats it. Everyones said I'm basically on my own during the pregnancy. She makes me feel like she's too busy and I dread going to see her already. And I hate asking her stuff. Do midwives exist that care? Hubby say they don't... Can anyone recommend a midwife?? Please help!

Sorry - can't really help as I'm not in that area.
Just wanted to say that if you're not happy with your midwife, definately change. And yes, caring midwives do exist.

Not from Taupo but down the road in Waiouru. You MW should be seeing you every 4 weeks until 28 then 2 weeks till 36 weeks and then weekly from then to the birth and if you go over you may see her twice a week. If you don't like her change, maybe ask plunket if they know of anyone they recommend. |

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I'm from Taupo too even though I'm early in my pregnancy I didn't find any available independent midwife (no wonder why, there're only 3 of them in Taupo as far as I know), so you're lucky when are you due?

Oh I'm from Taupo too and have just booked an independent but am only a few weeks along. It's so difficult here knowing what to do and it still feels too early

Yeh I know I got mine at 6 weeks it's so hard to get one here though your better to get in early. I'm trying to change to a different one but I might be out of luck-in that case I'll go with a DHB mw
 Congratulations and good luck |

Do you mind if you ask who you had? I'm so nervous about finding one as I don't have any friends in this area who have had babies and with this one my first.....

I had Meg, I have a very good doc who says she is fantastic and has lots of experience and she'll let u birth in Rotorua which is recommended. (Sonia wont) I'm sure she's good I just haven't clicked with her but at the moment I'm still with her. How far along are you? Try not to let it stress you out too much thats what I did and ended up a mess! Let me know if I can help you out with anything else
 Good luck Bec |

Oh, I have Sonia but didn't realise she wouldn't let you birth in Rotorua... We're not really sure how far along I am, going for a dating scan in a couple of weeks but think I'm only about 4 or 5 weeks...

Thats just what a friend of mine that had her said so you should probably ask her to be sure. Cool exciting though how are you feeling?

I will. There's so much to ask! Just want to get through the first 12 weeks first. Today's actually the first day I've felt a bit rough - not good given we're off on holiday for a week tomorrow! Hoping it is just psychological.
How are you feeling? How far along are you?

If not I felt better when I ate crackers and toast and just take things slowly. I'm not bad now I'm just exhausted! I'm 13weeks and 3 days :)
