What happened with it or was done about it? Looks like that's what i've got. Went to A & E this evening and have to go to my GP on Monday, and obviously the hospital if things get worse before then.
Awesome, just what i need on top of a naughty toddler and a reflux baby....

Hugs hun, it's an awful thing to have. I lost my daughter two years ago and to add insult to that, wasn't able to pass the placenta. They tried several times unsuccessfully to remove it manually then eventually I had to go under GA to have it removed. I was discharged and then after 10 days of bleeding, they did a scan to discover I had retained placenta. So I went through A&E to have a D&C to get it removed. It was a pretty rough time.
I really hope they can sort you out ASAP, the sooner the better. Did they give you a scan at the hospital?

   Eww, yucky . Hugs!
I had retained products after the gremlins - I was still bleeding really heavily at 6 weeks postpartum, and then one morning I got up and a huge chunk of membranes popped out. It was a really icky sensation . My midwife sent me for a scan, which was all clear, and the bleeding stopped within a couple of hours of passing it, so it had obviously all come out. It was a decent size - about the size of my palm.
I'll have my fingers crossed yours sorts itself and you don't need a d and c too.

   oh you poor thing...
i also couldnt deliver the placenta (even with the injection to help it along) they tried and tried but then had to remove it surgically. it was strange as i had a natural birth only to have a spinal tap after the event!!!! ( i was thinking ...argh, i should have got this an hour ago..haha)
but it turned quite serious real quick....and all of a sudden i was whisked away. i ended up needing a blood transfusion too as was losing alot of blood in the process.
i was in threatre for nearly an hour as they really scrap away...they told me the risk of any retained can be quite serious due to infection so get it sorted asap!!
 good luck.

I had parts left behind as well as i was bleeding heavily and passing stuff still at 6 wks i was sent to a & e 2 or 3 times each time getting a different doc and being told to let it pass on its own and if it hadnt stopped in a week to go back and they would give me a d & c the last time i went back they scanned and saw 3 spots where i was still bleeding from then told me to give it another week because your uterus is so thin from the stretching that they would likely do more damage maybe even permanent damage. Eventually at 9 wks post birth the bleeding stopped.

Thanks ladies. I went to the doctors this morning and she said i seem too well to have any retained products and that the problem should resolve itself. But she has sent me for a scan just to be sure. They can't fit me in till Thursday. The bleeding is pretty light at the moment so i'm hoping it'll FINALLY stop soon.
Oh queenbean you poor thing. So sorry for your loss. |
