My partner and i are currently looking at baby monitors and im confused! It's a toss up between Angelcare or the Tommee Tippee Ultimate Reassurance Monitor. For those of you who have one or the other, what are the pros and cons of each?

We've got the Tommee Tippee one, when I looked into both brands they seemed like much of a muchness and I got a great deal on it. It works brilliantly lol, keeps going off coz I forget to turn it off when I get Chiara up. I'll also use a Respisense monitor on her nappy once her cord dries up and drops off just to be ultra sure coz Mercedes had apnoeas as a baby so I tend towards being a little paranoid.
I like that the Tommee Tippee monitor has a thermometer on it too, we're running a small oil heater in Chiara's room and it's good to know that the temp in there is pretty constant and not getting too hot.

The newer Angelcare one (it's their digital one) also has a room thermometer on it. We have this one and find it fantastic!! One thing I really like about it is that you can turn the sound off (she only sleeps in the room across the hallway) which I do at times if I figure don't need to hear her sneeze at night but the alarm still comes through. Such a great peace of mind.

I have an angelcare and it's so fab. My baby has done the holding their breath thing a couple of times too and it's scary but having the monitor just means I sleep better at night!
Only thing is the angelcare has two frequencies, I think the other ones may have more. I can hear my neighbours baby when I put the sound monitor on. Quite funny listening to neighbour singing nursery rymes!!!

I have the TT and think it is great. It is good that you can turn the sound off on the angelcare - on the TT you can turn it down low, but if you turn the sound off you can't see the flashing light to know they are still alive.
The TT also has a night light which Iis useful.

I have the Angelcare monitor (not digital). It is fantastic. We have had the alarm go off a couple of times - rushed in and DS is fine. Just having it there for peace of mind is fantastic and absolutely worth the price I paid. No negatives at all about it.
I wouldn't have any other monitor although the TT sounds like it is similar.

I don't have a temperature gage on mine so I think that may be handy.

We have an Angelcare monitor and I would definitely not be without it. Means I can sleep and do stuff around the house without worrying constantly that he might stop breathing....
We have the older version so no digital thermometer but then if we had the one with that I wouldn't have been able to convince DH to buy our Grobag Egg - Which I |

I think either baby city or baby factory but we bought ours off trade me for about 1/3 of the price second hand and it's perfect.   I love trade me!!!
Speaking of bargains....and completely off topic again. I just went to both baby city and baby factory and got the best bargains!! I bought a whole bunch of summer things for 2 and 3 dollars each....tops, all in ones, shorts. Am very happy with purchases. It was Porirua branch.

We had the angelcare with Ds and it was brilliant as he was born a month early and it gave us a peace of mind. This one will be born at the same time and went out brought another angelcare on special. I planning on going into babycity as I have got a coupon for $30 off living textiles sleep bags for $19.99 normal price is $49.99 |

go angel care!! but im sure tommee tippee is just as good, they must have certain standards to achieve. I guess with 2 great products go for the one you get a good deal on. Check with your local baby shop they are back in stock - apparently there were supply problems

we have the angel care monitor (not the digital) and it's brilliant. emily was born 2 months early and was on the apnoea machine in the neonatal unit so when she came home (a month before her due date) it was reassurance to have her on our own monitor. It did alarm when she paused breathing a few times and gave me hell of a fright at 3 in the morning. The alarm would startle her and reminded her to breath again. Have not tried the TT monitor but can highly recommend the angel care.

I've got an Angelcare monitor too. Its fantastic, and love that you can turn the sound down, so you don't have to hear all the little snuffles babies make, but know that I'll hear the alarm. Never had it go off thank goodness, but is such a great comfort to have :)
