Hey everyone, wow it's so exciting to be able to post in this group now I had a few Qs I hoped someone could answer...
Can you get a dating scan from your GP or do you have to wait til you see a MW?
Can stress effect the baby? I'm so nervous we are gonna miscarry again because of the shakes that keep happening in chch but don't know if that's silly
What are the OK or not OK food to eat? Feel like I should know this but it's been a few years!
Is it weird that I don't really 'feel' pregnant yet...like I've got morning sickness but I don't feel like I'm having a baby. Wondering when the penny will drop?
 Thanks in advance! |

You need a referal for a scan either from a gp or mw. They only usually do a dating scan if your periods have been irregular or there is a history of probles ie mc.
Yes stress can effect the baby. So try not to let yourself get too worried about things. I try to distract myself with work and kids to take my mind off things. Also put your feet up occasionally and rest even if it is just for a short time.

Food. Don't smoke or drink. Limit caffine as much as possible. It can lead to MC. Do not eat any food that is not pipping hot. Only eat soft cheese etc when it is in a sealed packet. After that you can cook with it or get someone else in the family to eat it. Avoid un pasterised foods.

If you are using a MW then book in now. They will then give you alot of info on what to avoid and will do blood work as a base line for later.

 Good luck with your pregnancy

My GP gave me a referral for a dating scan, since I didn't have a MW at the time. So they can do it As far as food goes, I find the NZFSA site great And don't worry - you'll feel pregnant at some point, even if it's when you start to waddle |

My GP gave me a referral for dating scan also...
Is it stress or is it just worrying.... normal worrying is okay... but stress which affects the body (shakes, not sleeping, not eating, too much eating etc) will affect the baby.
After 2 m/c I have been worrying every day.... coming up to scans even more so... but my baby is fine and very active apparently!!!
And even though I have the M/S, tiredness, a big belly (showing early due to big fibroids), and even after 2 scans last one showing arms and legs waving... I still don't feel pregnant!!!!! |

My GP gave me a dating scan no questions asked - before 12w you are usually under your GP's care anyway.
And I'm sure you'll feel pregnant when your body is ready to let you know - I'm only just getting there and thats because bending down is getting uncomfy as is sitting at my desk all day.
Foods just make sure its fresh, piping hot if its re-heated & if its more than 1-2 days since it was first cooked dont eat it. I haven't gone overboard on the eating thing, just means more stuff made at home for me!
All the best for your new journey |

Don't worry too much about worrying lol..
I was paranoid and worried althroughout my pregnancy with Alex about spina bifida given Jared had it. I could never relax and yet Alex is ok and is actually more laid back than Daniel.

Just wanted to say thanks for the foods link posted up there - one of the things I'm stressing about so much :P
(Also, my input - Dr referred me for a dating scan because we didn't know dates though found out yesterday (at the scan) that I was exactly right anyway :P)

I personally didn't feel pregnant until the scan yesterday (even though I've had MS for a month) seeing the tiny little hands and feet waving at us and the tiny little heartbeat =)
