My MW has one I can borrow at no charge. Or you can hire them from the homebirth association, around $100 inc $40 bond in Palmy |

I second Aquabub, we hired a pool from them for our homebirth and the service was excellent - just a pity DD arrived so quickly and I didn't get a chance to use it LOL !!

Sorry, threadjack here. Those of you who have used birth pools at home with an electric hotwater cylinder, how did you get on with hot water? Is it worth hiring a califont (sp?) or was it not a big deal to use pots to heat the last of the water?

Some pools you can't actually use a caliphont in, so I would double check. We have gas heating so it wasn't really a worry for us. Would pay to have a big soup pot or two handy though, just in case!

T-rex my mw said that two kettles would be okay to have incase your hto water ran out, but would depend I guess on the length of your labour and how long you are in the pool

Ohhh good thinking... I know a few students who've packed up their flats for the summer... I could probably borrow 5 or 6 kettles if I wanted |
