I was given pills on Thursday to induce a MC, which kind of worked but when I went to the hospital for a scan they said there is still trissue and remains inside me. I was admitted and given 3 more doses of the pill but not a lot happened. I am worried that they will now make me have a D&C, because my Specialist told me some women take up to 6 months to get their period back after a D&C, and that your lining and cervix can be damaged by the scraping so we would have to wait to periods to return and then 2 full cycles before we can try again. I am just so keen to get preg again - one has to make it at some stage right? (this was number 3)
So those of you who have had D&C's - how long did it take before you got your period and could try again?

Sorry you are going through this JHS.
I hada D&C this year o 24th June. I was told to wait 3 months by my doctor. And midwife said 2 months. Mainly due to emotional reasons (as well as medical). I recovered quickly from the procedure, but recovered quicker from the emotional side due to knowing the D&C was coming about 4 weeks before I had it.....it was a blighted ovum so it took time and a few scans before they'd commit to an answer that this was what its was.

Anyway.....24th June I had the D&C. I didn't really want to wait, and didn't get an AF, and conceived again sometimes around 10th July.....I can't be too accurate there due to no AF etc.

I also have a friend who had a 3 miscarriages in a row and after the last D&C conceived the next month (without consciously trying) with twins! She also didn't have an AF. (not all loses for her resulted in D&C's)

I am also really sorry for your loss. I had a D&C in July after suffering from a blighted ovum and my AF arrived exactly 28 days after!
I have had no complications and for me I felt that having a D&C gave me a clean slate for trying again...

All the very best for the next few days...

I was given the pills to bring ont he MC and was also left with so tissue. Because it was three days after I had MC and still had tissue I had a D & C the next day - they said they were concerned about an infection so wanted to do the D&C asap. Was pleased to have it all over and done by then. Got my period 29 days later and conceived the month after that. The specialist recommended to wait a month but said it was more for mental reasons. Good luck!

JHS so sorry to hear what you are going through. I pills after MC in Jan and in May I still didnt have AF. I was also still testing positive preg on urine tests. Went to FA specialists and suggest D&C as still retained preg tissue. I was soo scared - hate surgery and all the same fears as you. I can honestly say it was the best decision I made! I felt like I had a good clean out and could carry on again. My preg hormone levels went back to normal straight away. I had AF about 2 wks after D&C and then concieved a week later - although mc at 5 weeks. I think there are always "risks" with any surgery, but from memory there were also risks with the medication induced clean out. At the end of the day you need to get all the advice you can and make the best decision for YOU! Go with your gut instinct. For me personally though D&C much better than the medication. Good luck hun

Sorry to hear your loss hun After my D&C AF arrived exactly 28 days later. Our specialist said it was advisable to wait one cycle so they can determine dates if I fall straight away but said we could carry on as normal.
I havent had any complications, that Im aware of! Although one of my Dr's said I may have blocked tubes . I wanted to D&C to get it over with so I could move on. Good luck hun.

   hugs to you!
I had DandC and got a fairly regular(though short) cycle straight away and was preg month 4 (had to wait due of possible molar preg) but if anything it made me more fertile i think and have had no problems(and Ethan)since then.

I was told by the specialist who performed my D&C to wait three months, my GP said a couple of months and my mw said I should wait until after my first AF for dating purposes. The specialist at the hospital did say that if I had to start trying again straight away to try and wait until after first AF so that my body could have a clean out iykwim.
My cycle after the d&c was 40 days and I dont think I actually ovulated. I conceived this bubba the next cycle.

I found the D&C was the best way for me to move on and I didnt have any complications, though I was a bit worried but more worried about getting an infection.

 Thoughts are with you hun.

I was told to wait till after my first AF which arrived about 28 days after the d and c and we conceived the following cycle.
I was also advised that the d and c was the best way to preserve my fertility and that if I waited to m/c naturally and got an infection I could end up with scarring which could affect my fertility.

AF arrived 28 days after my D&C too.
As far as I know providing the issue is normal i.e. not a molar pregnancy (which is rare) you can try again as soon as you feel ready.
