Amy is now 4 months old and I am still having problems getting enough into her. I have just stopped BFing, as I was not enjoying struggling to get her to feed - she would scream and not feed most of the time...
So now she is on bottles (only this week) and I am struggling to get more than 100ml into her at a time (often more like 50ml) She only has around 450-500ml a day and I am not convinced this is enough. She has been gaining weight slowly, but the PN is not concerned about it.

She cries when I try and give her a bottle, but if I can get her to calm down then she will drink some - I am fairly sure she should be hungry - happens even when i leave her over 3hrs between feeds...

 HELP! What can I do?

Bel, does she have reflux or colic that's making it uncomfortable for her to feed?

Sirius started doing that at about 4months. I believe most babies do it, and it is generally just a stage that passes.
In saying that, it may pay to check out the website www.cryingoversplitmilk.com regarding silent reflux

Bel, my DS was the same. I only managed to BF him for 6 weeks, so you did really well :)
When he went onto bottles, he wasnt having anywhere near as much as he should have, so I started giving him bottle when he woke up from a sleep and then more when he was ready to go to bed. He gradually started drinking more, and has just recently (he is 11 months) started having his bottle just before he goes to bed in one go.

Like you said, Plunket isnt worried about her, and she is slowly gaining weight, so I wouldnt worry. I guess it is just a matter of building the habit??

Hope this helps, sorry for the novel!!!

I am still bf but jake is doing this now. I too am feeding him when he wakes and again before he goes back down as he will only take about 60-80ml at a time!
I wish I had your PN as mine is always on me about Jakes weight.

I was at the family centre the other day and they were showing a mum in a similiar postiona different position. She stood up and held baby upright facing out with head slightly tilted back. The baby took the bottle with little fuss and drank 150ml for the first time in weeks. The mum also sat baby in a rocker/bouncer and fed the bottle that way.
