Has anyone else suffered from this in late pregnancy?? I started getting it at around 37 weeks pregnant.
Its the most horrible pain ever!!! I think it might even be worse than the cervix pain and thats saying something!!! cos I get that real bad aswell.
My dad gave me some exercises I can do to help it, cos he used to suffer from it aswell, but REAL bad.
Its sooo scary when I get it and Im driving as the pain goes down the right side of my lower back and bum and down my leg a bit It makes me almost collapse from the pain, and what sucks is panadol wont help as its a pinched nerve thing, so I have to try and move the baby off the spot thats causing the pain, sometimes takes hours |

Yeah sciatic pain is the pits - I have been getting it for a couple years off and on now and can only imagine how much worse it is going to get for me later in pregnancy. Usually I'd take neurofen and use the creams with ibuprofen but you can't while pregnant which sucks!
Are you just getting it now and then or is it quite frequent? I had codeine for it last year and that really seemed to help - relaxed my body so much that everything went back to how it was meant to be, I'd take it before going to bed and be good as gold the next day - I don't know whether you can have codeine during pregnancy tho? Otherwise use wheat packs to help ease the pain and work on those exercises, they reckon that if you strengthen the muscles in your back it will prevent it from happening so much, though I haven't had much luck with that either Good luck! and hang in there, not too long to go now.

Its getting more frequent now, it was just at night time but now Im waking up with it and it will just hit me like a tonne of bricks through out the day.
I had it this morning, Im ok at the momment, but when I get it I have to get on the floor on my hands and knee's cos its so painful, thats the only thing that stops the pain almost right away.

I feel for you I really do. I had it a few years ago with back issues. I couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time with it. Ended up in After hours getting pethidine injected into my bum. Ahhh bliss Kali1 - getting it during pregnancy was my biggest fear. Thankfully it didn't happen so you might be lucky.
If a wheat pack doesn't give you relief try a cold pack. I got weekly sports massages which helped me.
Book yourself in for a pregnancy massage, if nothing else it'll help you relax |

A pregnancy massage sounds SOOOOO nice, I wonder who would do them in my area....hmmm
Yeah nerve pain is soo nasty and it sucks that I cant have anything else for it, just have to tough it out until baby is here Will try the heat pack when it happens again, I think I might take my hot water bottle with me when I drive incase I get it.

I had it from about 25wks with Zoe. The excerises sort of helps. But the only thing that worked was giving birth. Sorry.
Pregnancy massage worked for a few hours and it felt so lovely.

Do you have a belly band? I found that it helped lift the weight off my pelvis.

I recommend the belly band. I've also taken panadeine, and if that doesn't work, you can take codeine, just drink lots and lots of water. I'm seeing an osteopath with some success but really just can't wait till this baby is out! Hopefully it will resolve a bit then. Good luck.

Oh yea, I had the worst sciatica when I was pregnant with Keziah.. it made walking/rolling over in bed and getting in and out of the car an absolute nightmare I had it from about 35 weeks on and the closer I got to my EDD the worse it got *sigh*
On top of that Keziah was fully engaged by 37 weeks so that too made it very difficult to walk as well
So I totally know where you are coming from Sheena.. luckily you don't have too long to go now, and as soon as Caden is born, the pain will dissipate

Yeah, Caden has been pretty much fully engaged since around 36 weeks, and the sciatic nerve pain started at round 37 weeks.
Its just a real b*tch on top of all the other pains like cervix, groin and the general end of pregnancy aches and pains Cant WAIT until he is born and I can begin to feel normal again. Tired lol, but normal!
Its been ok so far, but I know it will return tonight, always does **sigh**
