Hello ladies. I've just gone through my second miscarriage in a row and I'm not sure what to do now. I have no problem getting pregnant, everytime we try we suceed. But I've now had 3 miscarriages (one before my daughter and two since). I don't know what I can do to try and improve things. There's so much help out there to get pregnant but what can be done to help you hold on to a pregnancy? ANy thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Poppy, you sound just like me!!! I'm so sorry to hear you're going through it again. I had a MC before my daughter and I've had 2 since. I'm now on my 3rd pregnancy since my daughter and really hoping it sticks! I had spotting which seems to have stopped but it's very early days and I keep worrying when I think I'm losing symptoms etc. We also don't seem to have much trouble conceiving either. I had a blood clot in my leg fairly recently so had a range of blood tests to rule out that I didn't have a clotting problem (which can cause miscarriages). Some ladies who have multiple miscarriages seem to try low dose aspirin anyway... I haven't done so though. Basically my understanding is that you can't get publicly funded investigation until 3 losses in a row. If this one doesn't work out for me that's what I'll be doing. I had a c-sec with my daughter and wondered if any scar tissue might be a problem. At what stage were your losses? Did you have serial hcgs? Sorry again to hear you're in this situation!

The sucky part is most GPs won't refer you to a specialist until you've had 3 consecutive losses. And if you've had a healthy baby inbetween it gets reset.
You can request they do basic testing via bloods for you at the GPs and check sperm for him.

I am similar to you in that I've had multiple loss and a healthy baby. If I lose my current pregnancy it will only be recurrent loss number two. If I have another missed miscarriage I will get a d&c so I can get the product tested. After that I will be paying for genetic testing for myself and husband privately as I cannot stand to go without answers into another pregnancy.

I think a.girl started testing on loss number 2?

Also I just wanted to add that I seem to get pregnant very easily as well, but have trouble developing healthy sticky bubbas. For my sons pregnancy I went a bit over the top, crazy if you will with my lifestyle and I don't know if it was the reason I have him today or not but here's my list of obsessive things I changed:
Changed all my hair and body products to natural with no parabens or sulfates
Didn't eat any product that came in chemical coated packaging, especially not microwave popcorn
Didn't cook with any teflon cook ware
Didn't cook or eat out of any plastic products
Cut caffeine completely out of my diet (no coffee, tea, soft drink of any description, chocolate)
Took prenatals ALL the time, even throughout miscarriage
Upped my water intake and only drank out of a glass bottle
Had a smoothie every day with banana, berries, probiotic yoghurt and fresh orange/Apple juice (for him as well)
Tried to only eat unprocessed food (meat and veg home prepared and cooked)
Made sure I was having Vit C everyday
Made sure I was having red meat at least 3 times a week
Didn't take on any stressful jobs at work
Made sure I got plenty of sleep
Exercised at least every 2nd day for 30 min or more

There's plenty more I did but can't remember right now! Might add them later if I remember.

I think it's probably easier and better for your peace of mind to get testing done first to see if there's a genetic reason though.

Hi Poppy, so sorry for your loss. There's probably not a lot of tests that can be done to figure out why you have MS but next time you conceive maybe take baby aspirin and ask about the Colorado protocol which fertility specialists sometimes prescribe in cases of recurring MS.

Thanks for the response guys. I am contemplating going private just to get some opinions on our chances. I'm definately going to give it a rest for a while, I can't go through this again at the moment. good luck nellenium with your little bundle.
