I was thinking about giving Madison some yogurt and was wondering if there was a baby style one, if so where do you get it from or what brand other people use for their babies when just starting out. I know that you have to watch the sugar content, but what is considered a good one.
 Thanks in advance

i asked the plunket lady about yoghurt when jack was little because DH was getting it from work for free......i think as long as it's not the 'lite' variety, normal yoghurt is fine for bubs........?

There is the Fresh and Fruity My First yoghurt with all the other dairy products in the chiller section but it is about twice the price of normal yoghurt. I just give Jack the normal yogurt and just restrict him to half a pottle a day - otherwise he would eat the whole 6 pack!

Gina isn't too much into yoghurt and we have bought different baby ones along the way.
What works best for us, is to mix some plain unsweetned yoghurt with pureed fruit. I puree either fresh fruit or fruit canned in natural juice (no added sugar) and then mix with organic yoghurt in whatever ratio works that day - and I know she's not getting anything like sugar, gelatine and colours etc

I think the baby yoghurts actually contain more sugar than standard yoghurt ironically. The standard stuff is just fine. Plain (sweetened) is great with fruit added as fruit yoghurts contain preservatives.

I was wondering about the baby yoghurt/custard thing. It seems weird that plunket recommend no dairy products until over 12 months, but I was reading the ingredients on a jar of watties banana custard and it has full cream milk and sugar as its main ingredients. I would assume yoghurt would be the same? I want Jaymie to taste yummy yoghurt and custard, but I am reluctant if it is too soon...?

You can start them on cheese and yoghurts and milk in baby cereals from about 9 monthsish i think.

 It's true.
I checked the packets once to compare and was shocked to see that the baby version has more sugar! They were yummy though lol
After that I just bought the normal ones as they were cheaper.

Caleb has the fruit flavoured fresh and fruity regular yogurts for deserts sometimes. He loves them.

yep, they do have more sugar and the only think I think that they don't have is some sort of thickener....Jeremy vomitted big time the 3 times I gave him baby yogurt but is fine on normal so now I just stick to the cheaper stuff |

I always just used Easiyo yoghurt with DD as we have always gone through a lot of it as a family anyway - works out much cheaper!
