We've pre-enrolled Maya at Marist Primary which isn't our local Catholic school, but it is one of the top Catholic primaries in Auckland. We enrolled her when she was 2 and even then they couldn't guarantee her a place until 2009, today I spoke to them and they have confirmed they can take her next February when she turns 5.
Awesome news, coz they have brilliant teachers and feed into a locally run One Day School programme for gifted kids that preschool have recommended we look at for Maya.

Yay, helps to put them on the waiting list early aye. We went on a school visit last week to the school Alyssa will be attending and 1 teacher to 15 children ratio and seperate little and big children play areas. And they also have a gifted programme. Very pleased with the school. Impressed that the priciple came out to speak to us when we arrived and he got down to the kids level to talk to them. The children also sang us lovely waiata. GREAT SCHOOL
Ha ha just realised my post said 15 teachers to one child ratio. Woops sleep deprivation

It's so hard to get into now I couldn't believe it! And now their roll is full until 2011, so even with Maya going there I still have to enrol the gremlins now to guarantee them a place. And if you're not Catholic you pretty much have to reserve a spot when you decide to TTC coz it's pretty much impossible. It bugs me in a way that it's such a performance, but at the same time it says something about the school that so many people want to send their kids there.
We got the enrollment pack and uniform info today. On the one hand I'm really excited and want to rush out and get her uniform already, but on the other hand I can't believe that in 9 months time my "baby" will be a big school girl! LMAO Maria - with a ratio like that I'd drive all the way up there to send Maya to a school with 15 teachers to one child |
