So, got a BFP on Sat, which was about 12dpo. So far have refrained from doing multiple hpts and stopped myself from rushing out to get a blood test on Sat morning. But I don't think I can keep being this chilled out. My breasts are less sore this morning and already I'm feeling anxious. But I'm afraid hcg monitoring will make me more stressed. Its such a catch 22. In my last pregnancy I was a complete wreck right up to the 12 week scan and that was with getting weekly scans from 6 weeks.
What does everyone think- hcg monitoring yay or nay?

No. I think you are likely going to stress regardless based on what you have said and if the numbers aren't following the "ideal" (since there is such a wide bracket of normal) then won't that make you more stressed?

hmmmmmmmmm its a hard one, I didnt get hcgs done this time but did with ds, I think I worried both times but probably felt more at ease with ds towards getting closer to 12 weeks as I was reassured by the hcgs, but at the same time its weekly nervousness of getting the results etc....could you have weekly scans again? that can be reasurring too? I had them 6 weeks 9 weeks and 12 weeks this time
a big congrats hun and I hope the 12 weeks goes super fast for you

Yeah I pretty much had all my losses in weeks 4 & 5 so thats why its a particularly anxious time. If I get to a scan with a heartbeat at 6.5 weeks then I am past the worst.

I wouldn't get serial hcgs... I would maybe get one BT done to check hcg and progesterone levels to confirm the HPT, but I think serial testing is far too stressful! Also when you're as early as you are it's very normal for symptoms to come and go, so that doesn't mean anything CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congrats on your pregnancy!! I think try not to get the HCGs done if you can cope with not knowing... I got them done with DD's pregnancy (4months after m/c) and the levels were fine but only got two done then was worried anyway about if they were still progressing. I didn't get them done this time, in fact didn't have anything till my only scan at 20wks and have been much more relaxed about the whole thing (also had an OB with DD so had fortnightly scans from 8wks - was reassuring to see her, but by the end of the fortnight I'd be stressing about it again lol)
I didn't have many symptoms this time. My sore boobs were what made me test, but they didn't last long, and nausea from about 6wks...
Oh but good on you refraining from doing multiple hpts hehe, I did 12 this time |

Haha 12, really Rachelsea! I couldn't resist doing another one 2day, so that makes 4 for this pregnancy I got hcg's for DD and did find it really stressful waiting the 2 or so days for the results to come back. I think if you can avoid it this time then it will be better for you. Maybe try taking some rescue remedy if you find yourself stressing out? I did that for the first 12 weeks and think it helped a little.
Im still worried about M/Cing but what will be will be, I do want an early scan though just so I don't get to 12 weeks and theres nothing there.
It's not too long till 6.5 weeks, I think try to hold out and let your little man occupy your mind instead!

VB!!! Congrats hun what fantastic news!!!
As for the hcg testing I personally wouldnt do it. With Jackson I didnt do it (I had a MC before Jackson and did serial hcg testing) and I have decided not to do it this pregnancy as well. The stress of MC is enough to send me bonkers let along the added stress of hcg. I have a scan at 8 weeks so Im nervously waiting for that. I guess at the end of the day, what will be will be. If a MC happens there is nothing that can be done to stop it.

Can you ask for an early scan to put your mind at east instead of the BT's?

Oh dear. Of course you were all right but I couldn't help myself. I got tests yesterday and now I am worried that they are too high. (Not my usual problem) Sigh.
