do anyone make crackers?  or something similar? My two go through a fair amount of cruskits and crackers so I'm starting to wonder whether I could be making them something instead. |

The Destitute Gourmet one is awesome. If you have a pasta machine rolling it through that is faster than using a rolling pin ETA copied from another forum:
1 C plain flour (can do half wholemeal / half plain)
 1/2 t salt (I used rock salt)
 2T butter
2T sesame and / or poppy seeds (I didn't have these, so used a tsp of dried rosemary, which was really tasty with the rock salt)
I added a bit of grated parmesan, but this wasn't in the recipe
 1/4 C water
Mix the flour, salt, butter and seeds in a food processor, or rub in with your fingers.
Add water to make a soft dough.
Roll out to desired thickness (not too thick) prick with a fork and cut out shapes.
Place on a floured tray and bake for 15-25 minutes or until golden at 200 degrees C.

Yum!  Thanks Weegee.  Will definitely be making that one.  I'm so lusting after a pasta maker at the moment!  My rolling pin is crappy and there isn't anyone at the moment who I can bribe to do the rolling!! Gosh - I just looked back over the ingredients.  There really is no point paying for store bought crackers is there?!? And these sound much yummier anyway. |

variations: sprinkle seeds on top, cheese add 50gm of cream cheese while mixing dough. Salt, sprinkle salt on top.

 Snack Rings

This is the one I use.
 125g flour
 3/4t baking powder
 1/2t salt
 25g very cold butter
 1/2c water approx

put everything except water into food proceser & add water while mixing till it forms a ball roll out thinly & cut, bake for 10-15mins on 190 till golden color. I roll ours out in the pasta machine. Makes heaps. I also add cheese & seeds for variety. But plain ones are great also.

Yum.  I finally got round to making Weegees and they are yummy.  I'm thinking they might just make a nice Christmas present with yummy cheese and olives or something.
