I'm looking for a mw now! I'd like to try a new one as was a little intimidated by my last one although she was very good at her job, her bedside manner was um abit harsh lol. Any reccomendations gratefully recieved. We're Tawa/Porirua way but will birth at Wgtn. |

I'm with Victoria Pantaleeva. I'm in Tawa, but I found it very hard to get someone close by. Nobody would ring me back! She's in Johnsonville... I've had about four appointments with her and she seems very nice and like she knows what she's talking about.

If you're willing to travel to Ngaio, then MICHELLE VINCENT! I just finished with her yesterday *cries* and she was brilliant the whole way through! She calls back, shes friendly, doesn't ignore you if you ring at like 2am with a question/concern! etc...! ETA: She works from the Ngaio Med Centre, She has a 'bio' on their website.
But definitely meet with a few.

Another on in the J'ville area is Rachel McTavish, she's Michelle's back up, but she's been a midwife for ages and really knows her stuff also. Her and Victoria (mentioned above) both work in the J'ville Medical Centre building but in the part where you give blood/get blood test.

Thanks ladies, have left a msg with Michelle so fingers crossed I can get her! I've also heard good things about Victoria. I'm happy to travel as went to Jville last time so no drama going to Ngaio. Hmmmm could stop and have my daily coffee at the cafe there |

In case you can't get hold of Michelle, I had Sue Whitley from Harbour City Midwives who was awesome, really recommend her. She works with two others and they have two post-natal midwifes also, one of which lives in Tawa.

Emmecat, Sue is based in Newtown in the Lychgate Centre (upstairs).  I also had her team and felt really well cared for throughout.  She works with Jenni Doust and Deb Carr Porter.  Denise Garcia does their post natal stuff and she's based in Tawa.  If I was ever lucky enough to have a third I wouldn't hesitate to go with them again.

If you are still trying to find one I have Megan Heatherington (porirua). She is highly recommended. She has been a part of over 500 births. And she is a lovely person too
