I posted this in the pregnancy forum, but I thought there might be some ideas from others.
Apologies for forum hogging!!! I want to give DH a present when baby is born, but I am completely stuck as to what to get him. Not sure if anyone will be able to help.... but thought I would put it out there!!
I want to get a present that he can keep forever and it be a lasting memory of bubba being born. He doesn't really wear jewellery - he already has a Greenstone from when we travelled overseas together, and he bought a really nice watch in Switzerland when we were there. His wedding ring is the only thing he wears (and the greenstone from time to time).
Any other ideas?!? Did anyone else do/plan anything similar?

The only thing I can think of is something like a framed Twinkletoes casting of bubs hands or feet but you obviously couldn't do that until after bubs is born. I know Bizzy did that for her DH either for his birthday or first Fathers Day and I thought it was a cool idea.

I can't think of the names of any of them but there are some great photographic groups that do really gorgeous make-over pics - esp of pregnant women. Maybe you could sneak in and get some done and then give him a framed copy of your fav?

Does your DH have any tattoos?  You could buy him a voucher to have a tattoo done for his baby.

You could video the birth - that would be a lasting memory and as I sadid above.
Believe me they will not forget that special moment in time and I think anything else would serfice in comparison.
Perhaps you could save the present for his bday or first fathers day.
What I did for DH for his first fathers day with rhyley was a video motarge on movie maker - -- I started off by saying there was 2 of us - and carry on from there...
Other than that the cast (or something easier is a card with babies hand and foot print in it)

Haha! I told DH that when we had our last child that he had to buy me diamonds to thank me for going through the ordeal of childbirth twice! He got me a camera instead Back to the OP - what about some special cufflinks (just thinking about the ring/watch/necklace thing you were talking about). That of course means he'd have to wear shirts, so won't work if he doesn't.
A photo album type thing that will be just for photos of him and bubba?
A native tree, that he can plant in memory of becoming a dad? You can buy them in cool wooden boxes here Or a bottle of really good whisky or something that he can put aside to open on the baby's 21st birthday.

Wow, those are some cool ideas Mazzy. I especially like the idea of the whisky. But I can see cufflinks would also be great if he's a shirt wearer.

We were given a really nice bottle of port from my BIL, I hope he didn't mean for it to be put aside for the 21st because we drunk it. |

I thought of the cufflinks, but just got some because he got a new job about a month ago. I should have waited!!! I actually really like the tree idea... I am going to look into that.
I know DH is having an eternity ring made for me (the surprise was accidentally ruined). I am not concerned that he will be paying a small fortune, I just would like to have something thoughtful that I could give in return. He's just a difficult man to buy for!! Would be easy if I could buy some sort of gadget, but I really want something he can keep forever.
