i havent read it(dont have a paper) but i drank a lot of caffiene and still got pregnant twice very quickly though i drank very little during pregnancy after being paranoid bout the miscarriage.. you'd have to have over the equivalent of i think 3 cups of coffee a day for that to happen though...i had absolutely no drinks with artifical sweetener in them though...planning to ttc soon and planning to cut down a little but not stop.

I'll have to drag out the paper that I didn't get a chance to read yesterday. I drink a lot of diet coke and it did take a while to conceive the gremlins, but I didn't cut back and managed to get pregnant very accidentally with Chiara. I don't drink it while I'm pregnant coz it makes the hyperemesis worse.

Aren't they talking about using Coke, um, internally? Because I'm definitely not doing that!

Yea, I think they are... this website gives a few more details.
I've knocked diet coke on the head because of the caffeine, but I wouldn't worry too much about it |

According to the new scientist article it was a method used during the 60s/70s (the era of free love when contraception was hard to come by).  It's a bit of a folklore tale and the scientist wanted to prove or disprove it.   They did a controlled test tube experiment.  Apparently diet coke works better than normal coke but because sperm can shoot through your cervix in a matter of seconds it's probably doesn't work as well IRL because you're not going to be able to get the diet coke up there fast enough before the quick swimmers speed up the vagina (just incase anyone was thinking of trying this method at home ).

I guess it's in the same line of using vingar for the same thing. Aren't you all pleased we live in a modern society where contraceptive is realtively easy to obtain if its needed/wanted.
As for the whole caffine thing its an excess of caffine rathers than just caffine on its own that increases the chances of m/c so just cut back and remember its in chocolate too.

That would really put the vagina out of wack and more prone to fungal and bacterial infections!
