   Hi ladies,
This is my first pregnancy and my husband and I are absolutely over the moon! Still early days, but thought I would get on with finding a midwife sooner rather than later. Do you have any recommendation in Wellington area?
 Many thanks for your help.

Hi there - somewhere on here there is a thread where people have been recommending midwives. Scroll to the last page, and there is a paragraph there of some wellington/Hutt valley MWs. I will be phoning around myself tomorrow :-) Congrats btw.
From memory and brief notes, Victoria Panteleeva of Birth Options, Margaret Hadley of Capital City MWs, Michelle Vincent of Ngaio medical centre, and Pauline Moran. You may need to google their contact numbers. There were others for hutt and wellington city. Good luck!

Margaret told me she didn't take first timers.
I cannot recommend Michelle enough! She is fantastic!

Ive had Margaret and Pauline... I much preferred Pauline, she has been absoutely amazing, despite all the crap weve had!
Where abouts in Wellington are you? That might impact the recommendations a bit? (also the type of birth you want?)

Well I tried getting hold of a bunch of midwives today. I really don't like these pager systems. I know they have them for obvious reasons, but they're so impersonal. In the end, I called up my GP who put me in touch with their midwives. Done. Dusted. Had a lovely chat with my midwife-2-b who has taken on board all my concerns and worries. I feel very reassured. I get my first scan next week and together we have a plan for my future care.
So if anyone out there currently attends Porirua Union Community Health, Bedford St, Canons Creek, do consider their midwife team.

I would NEVER recommend Victoria Panteleeva. She almost killed myself and my baby due to her gross incompetency. Thank god for the Doctor who stepped in and delivered my baby, just in time as my baby had stopped breathing. I hate to think what our life would be like if the Doctor hadn't been there to save the day. I am allergic to penicillin and Victoria Panteleeva prescribed me penicillin for an infection even though she had my dangerous reaction recorded in my notes. Luckily I rang the pharmacy to ask if it was penicillin before I took it. Who knows what would have happened to me or my baby if I did take the penicillin. |
