It was Liz I think (arohanui), from here but on FB. Can I help? I can read ERO-speak and my nieces are at Puni School (or at least, one is and the other has just gone to Puke Intermediate). I'll take a look at the reports for you. I know my SIL and BIL have always been really happy with Puni.

Just had a quick look but as I don't know schools in Auckland I am entirely sure but they both look ok to me. I am comparing them to Primary Reports in Christchurch though - and am a secondary teacher rather than primary.
The ratio for teachers is about the same, decile rating is the same. Neither have any major concerns, just the usual standard ERO comments. It really depends on what you want your children to focus on or what their strengths are.

thanks guys... i just really wanted to know if there was anything bad about them. i have never really dealt with country schools before and i want to make sure the kids education will be of a good standard.
a friend of mine said that they will grow where you plant them, but i want them to grow well! weegee i think thats always a good sign, and its nice to hear from parents whose kids attend the schools.

There was def not anything major to worry about in the ERO reports.
My husbands a primary teacher and he thinks one of the best ways to get a feel for the school environment is to sit outside the school at drop off and pick up times as you can then see the kids intereacting with each other, parents interacting with kids and teachers etc.

A good friend of mine has her DS at Puni school, I'm pretty sure she finds it pretty good, I can ask her how she feels about it if you like.

TBH as a teacher, I would talk to other people, get their feel of the school. ERO reports only focus on a limited range of things. Also go into the schools and have a look around. Get the principal to show you around, and check out the classes and the building etc.

 I agree.
I looked at the ERO's for schools up here, but didn't really take them into consideration.
Like I said to you in another post, you really need to go and visit the school and get a feel for it, talk to the teachers etc... just turn up and ask to speak to Principal or DP...
