Ever since my endo surgery, day 1 of my period is horrendous it honestly just pours out of me, and I need to empty my mooncup about every 2-3 hours (at 15ml when full, you do the math!). I don't mind that because it's still more pleasant than dealing with tampons. The thing is though that I also get quite a bit of leaking and it's not overflowing, because I empty it in good time. I wonder if it's simply the volume of blood I'm losing, and how much moves down my ... ahem ... while I change the mooncup, but I'm not sure. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has a similar problem with theirs? It's only on the first day that I have problems, the rest of my period is a doddle - I don't have any problems with leaking at all.
*Sigh* OK, that's all ... thanks for listening. Any advice is happily accepted |

I do. The reason I asked is because I make quite a mess of them! (as in, I just soaked through one )

maybe the seal isnt quite as tight due the amount of fluid already there when you insert it?   i dont know really tho sorry. i dont have one yet, was going to but got pregnant, doh!
if you dont get any help from here i could ask on TNN for you - there are lots of seasoned mooncup users over there.

I think you might be right GandT - I did some research online and found a few suggestions about ways to work on sealing it in there good and proper, so I'm giving those a go! I figure it must be something like that as I don't have any problems at all any other days, just this first one when it's all on!
I'll let you know how I go        or, at least, if I manage to sort myself out!

Yeah I'm figuring it's probably the postioning or the seal, also possibly combined with how much...*ahem* moves down as you say when changing....hopefully some of the tips you found work out!! Otherwise you could always pop over to the eco section on TNN and post there too in case anyone has any other advice.

I find the seal thing a prob too on day one, I figured it was just "run off" from in between changes! Let me know if you find a way to fix it!! Or I'll experiment next month |

Body parts aside, I have had problems like that too and agree that it is probably a seal thing. I usually wear a cloth liner anyway, through my whole period just in case.
