Ok so im not sure on the drill as i cant remember how i did it with Bay and its all changed now anyway so i was wondering When do i apply for working for families (cant remember the new name???) for this next bubs???? im already getting it for Bay and dont know how it works because i guess theyl just top up the ammount im already getting to the ammount for 2 kids but dont want to apply late and have them tell me that i then have to wait for the tax year to roll over Do i ring them and tell them when bubs arrives or just before so that they pay on time??? (i remember that my SIL just rung up and then had a few weeks to send in bubs birth cert but i dont know when she rang).
This will also include the $150 for 9 weeks thingy too (cant remember the name) i never got it with Bay so not sure how that works either???
....OK that rant confussed me even! so i hope anyone else can understand the babble...

Okay...as soon as bubs is born, you need to send in all the forms....and birth certificate...and they will work out what you are intitled too.
it will also help to ring them and get them to send you all the forms and info you need before hand...so its all filled out and ready to go.

dont forget to apply for an ird number for this bubby as well

I dont know if this will help you but i have only just applied for Working for families Tax credit for Lycan but i was told i was entitled to this since the day he was born....He is now 8 months old.
Maybe you should just give them a call and see what they say...

What I did was after I have Josh and was settled back at home I rang them up to give them the date of birth of the 2nd child. They will only pay you from the DOB. They told us we have 8 weeks to get them IRD # form back to them or the payments will stop. We received a cert of entitlement the other day and it had the amount that we will receive with the IRD # and the amount without the IRD #. We are now just waiting of DBM to send us Josh's birth cert to send a copy to IRD. And good luck getting through to them at the moment, I have been trying ofr ages as they haven't put on the in work payment thing on our cert of entitlement and that $60 comes in handy every week. |

Iv just recieved my new entitlement in the mail about 10 minutes ago and the payments have gone up for Bay as of 1st of april! YAY!! Ok so if i get this right by what you have all said - because this is my 2nd he will be added to Bays so i just ring and let them know when he is born then get my forms in quick smart....Does that sound right?

Are you talking about the parental tax credit  that you would be getting instead of paid parental leave? If you are getting that then you would have to get the forms from them and apply for it seperately. Once you have #2 you call them and give them the DOB, they will then adjust the payments for having 2 children and then pay it when your next payment is due (depending on when you call) You then have 8 weeks to get the IRD # application for #2 into them (you need to wait for the birth cert) and then your payments will continue like normal. You can go online to their calculators and work out how much you would eligible to get once #2 is here (I think it is an extra $72 a week). |

from memory they wont update it till they receive the docs from you - a phone call wont do (well didnt when i had toby as they wanted his IRD number first too.) But i would ring them tho to check and get the forms sent out
this is from the IRD website re the paid parental leave...

For more information and how to apply

For more information about paid parental leave, to find out if you're eligible and how to apply, visit the Employment Relations Service (ERS) section of the Department of Labour website (see "Related websites") or call the Department of Labour on 0800 20 90 20.

They will def pay you the money once you ring and give them the DOB. I haven't received Josh's birth cert yet and we are getting the payments for him. Thats why they give you 8 weeks grace to get the IRD # for the child.

when i rang up about jordis, they told me i should have rung in earlier, as i would get paid from when i rang. we will get the money at the end of the tax year, but we still could have been getting the extra from her date of birth (silly me waited for birth cert to come back etc).

Becks is right and it's on their website. If you already have one child they will just top up your payments after you have #2 and phone them. You have 8 weeks from them to provide a copy of the Birth Certificate. I think it's a new policy because it didn't used to be that way.
We got paid the PTC (parental tax credit), they'll ask you if you're entitled for it when you ring (ie when baby is born), it's all very easy and payments start within 10 days or so.

I hear you on that Glow - it took them 3 months to process my income tax refund last year, and yet only 3 weeks to send DP a letter telling them he owed them $300 from an overpayment of Family Support for DSD |
