so, i figured my scan wasnt going terribly well when the first question i was asked was 'are you in pain'. it turns out that when your ovarian follicle gets to around 2.5cm it pops and out comes eggy. mine scan showed mine was 4cm which is apparently definitly not normal however he wouldnt get concerned until it reaches 6cm. so no more charting for me this month as there is no point. i have to go back and get a scan done on day 1 to see if it has dissapeared magically or grown. grrr stupid body sucks

Ok, I'm sorry to butt in...does it mean that there's a problem if they get to that size regularly? Only reason I ask is because mine frequently get to 5cm in size (and they hurt, but don't burst)...is it an indication that something isn't working properly?

If its any consilation (sp), my cousin had one pop at 5cm and while it was painful she was OK and then she just had to go and get it cleared out (sorry don't know how they did that, maybe surgery but not sure). And now she's due to give birth in 2 weeks!

yea, he said he wont worry until it reaches 6cm. mini8e the follicle should burst and release an egg at 2.5cm, anything above that is abnormal. i dont really know what that means, all he said was that it wont release an egg, it will deteach or burst hopefully. i know it doesnt stop my chances of having a baby, it just wont happen this cycle and im wondering if the extreme pain i got 2 weeks ago was another one bursting which means it is 2 months in a row which isnt a good sign cos they arent viable
 edited for spelling

I dont know what size mine was when it burst I was 19 from memory. It was discovered after it had burst.
I didnt pass out, but I know when it burst.... It was quite painful.

yea, apparently they are most likely to burst in the morning which is really inconvenient as i am the only one to open the gym at 5.15am. lol. i dont know whether i would rather it burst or grow until they need to remove it. im covered in tattoos and can deal with pain well but it sounds awful.

Hmm, mine was in the morning! But it was about 10 ish (it was a loonngg time ago now).
It did hurt, dont get me wrong, but for me it was not horrific more instant pain followed by a dull ache.

But mine was abnormal in that it burst inward so I bleed into my ovary. Nothing scary though, it was the equivalent of a teaspoon over a 2 days and I went about my normal business.. just no exercise.
