Have you looked into Porse, Barnados or Homegrown Kids? These are in home child care facilities.

I am looking into childcare atm too and both Barnados and Homegrown kids have said they have a carer that will take her (I'm only looking for 1 day per week though and I have a 2yo so may be different).
I haven't even had a response from the daycare centres I've contacted

I have found some fab places... depends where you are though.

I'm in Kilbirnie and have looked at centres in Newtown - Adelaide and Kidzone were my preferred. Heard brilliant things about Aubert Childcare in Island Bay. Wasn't AT ALL impressed with the Barnardos centre in Kilbirnie.

The only other thing I can advise is to actually go into the centres and have a tour. Then you can meet all the staff and try and make an impression... then scope out the kids names/photos and name drop your little heart out if you have any connections.

I'm not sure at all if this makes any difference but it definitely can't hurt!!

Aubert in island bay is fabulous resource wise, but he waiting list is a killer, but Salvation Army in berhampore is great, resourcves are abit tireder but the staff are gorgeous and really interact well with the kids. Fay is on their list to start when she is 2. ther is one is Owen St Newtown, cannot for the life of me remember the name of it, which is cool, but heard some negative stuff recently. I Kids at Greta Point and Cambridge Terrace are good too, little more expensive.
Fay is with Porse In Home at the moment, which I am really happy with now we have found the right carer. I may decide not to move her when she is 2 if things continue the way they are
 good luck tho

Nah it was on Ewart St, right at the top, now I think of it. sort of tucked in behind the hospital, infact it is hospital parking. damn cannot remember the name, we spent a morning there. I should just look it up I know cos it's gonna bug me now. Kidzone was also a good one but they had closed thier waitning list when I rang cos with brothers and sisters they weren't going to have an opening for about 5 years when I asked

I think you have to hound them. There is a place in Kelburn (I think Raroa Rd) that has vacancy advertised outside, but it has a really bad ERO report.

I'm also on the waiting list for every daycare in town. I'm going to widen my hunt to include Newtown and Berhampore so it's good to hear your feedback on those centers. Aubert hasn't phoned me back either....
