Topic: Triphasic Chart question     Posted: 18 December 2009 at 9:14am |

For those of you who are charting, I have a question.

Normally my chart is biphasic, so basically my temp just goes up after O.

However this month I had a second temp rise at 6 dpo, and my temp has stayed up around 36.5 degrees since (normally about 36.3 post O for me). I am 9 dpo at the moment.

Do any of you regularly have both biphasic and triphasic temp rises? Or are people generally one or the other?

To be perfectly honest, I'd say 6-9DPO is too early to be classed as triphasic... and even if it was, not all triphasic charts have a +ve ending... if you look at my charting homepage (same name as on here) the chart below my preg chart, I had a perfect looking chart, complete with what I thought was triphasic from 7-9DPO, then it suddenly dropped... and all I got was a big fat AF...

I think a triphasic chart would normally start closer to 10DPO or onwards

 Quoted from fertility friend site

"A triphasic chart shows three levels of temperatures: pre-ovulation, post-ovulation, and then a second rise around 7-10 days after ovulation. Some women with charts that show this pattern turn out to be pregnant. But many do not. Likewise, your chart does not need to show this kind of pattern for you to be pregnant. Whether or not you are pregnant, progesterone, the hormone responsible for raising your temperature after ovulation, generally peaks in the middle of your luteal phase and this can cause this kind of pattern whether or not you are pregnant.

A triphasic chart can be promising, however, because progesterone levels generally increase after implantation (7-10 days past ovulation) in conception cycles, and sometimes this results in a triphasic pattern. If your chart shows a second significant thermal shift that begins 7-10 days past ovulation, Fertility Friend will indicate a triphasic pattern in the Pregnancy Monitor. A triphasic chart, however, is not a definite sign that you are or are not pregnant. It is just increasing your probability if you also have well-timed intercourse. Likewise, you can be pregnant and not have a triphasic pattern. Like all signs of possible implantation or pregnancy, you can really only speculate about it once a pregnancy has already been confirmed."

Then again, everyone is different! My preg chart didnt go up higher until the day AF was due, so was more of a retrospect sign than anything else!

Hila... I think if your temps stay up it can be considered triphasic and is a positive sign .... are your charting on FF?  is so they will indicate it.  Nevertheless charting is speculative and its just a matter of wait and see..

I said I would let you know, and guess what?? I just tested and had a BFP!!! Yaaayyyyyy!
I am sooo excited, and my DH isn't home to tell, so had to come on here to tell someone (don't think anyone would appreciate being called at 6am on a Saturday!
Last night I was doing the good old boob squeeze to see if they were tender, and noticed I was leaking colostrom, so I quickly went out and bought a Discover preg test, and this morning I tested and it was positive. It is a faint line, but def a line, and it came up straight away!!
 I am just incredibly excited!

good luck to all of you this month. Fingers crossed and baby dust xx
