I found out today that I have O neg blood...I read somewhere that my body could create anti-bodies if baby is positive blood type? We don't know what DH is.
Should I be worried? Is this easily handled with the jab later on?

Dont' be worried, see if you can get DH checked if he is a - too then you are all good. If not you will have a jab of anti D and have ectra tests along the way. I am O- as well but DH is A- so we are sweet.

It's one of those things that lots of woman have and deal with and go on to have good pregnancies and healthy babies. And you're right, it's managed with a jab or two later in pregnancy - I havn't gone through this personally but I'm sure one of the ladies has and will share their experience with you.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You must be due in June, I was due in June this year! Man how time flies...
Anyway, back to topic, I'm O- and DH is A+. All it meant for me was that I had to have an Anti D injection after DS was born. Also, I have had to call my midwife if I had any bad knocks to my belly or any bleeding (which I didn't) and potentially had the injection as well. Someone else can probably explain it all better to you but that was my experience, was really no big deal in the end 
DS's blood type has turned out to be a perfect mix, O+

Hi, I am 0 neg & have had 5 babes, some are + and some -.
During pregnancy you get extra blood tests to make sure you don't have any antibodies to + blood. When babe is born, they take some cord blood, if babe is + you get a jab to stop you making antibodies (which would happen if babe's blood gets into yours). I have been fine.

I'm -, DH is +, Daniel is +. I've had anti d 4 times now for each pregnancy I've had. I'm fine.

I'm O- and Sam's father is A+. Sam turned out to be A- so I didn't need the Anti D injection and not likely to now as my new partner is O- too.

I am A- , my first 2 pregnancies were trouble free and both ended up being - too (A- and O-) so never had an anti d with either one. with #3 I had an ECG which can cause bleeding and so as a precaution they gave me an Anti d injection (this was at 37 weeks gestation) and when #3 was born they tested cord blood for the blood type - and #3 was + so had another Anti -d.
This pregnancy - I have had a bit of bleeding - twice before 12 weeks so didn't give me an Anti d (no need incase it was a miss carriage) I had an amnio and so had anti d then and had bleeding at 22 weeks and so given another anti d.
Reason for Anti d in neg blood type as explained to me is.... if the positive blood gets into your body - your neg red blood cells thinks it a foriegn thing and starts attacking it and if that maybe a baby your anti bodies will kill it (resulting in miscarriage) The anti d is a blood product and coats it and protects it from being attacked.
Hope that makes sense in my non medical back round garble LOL
Just to let you know - its not a huge hassle - the midwife or Ob (who ever you under) needs to be aware of it as as someone said if you have knocks (would have to be a big one) and bleeding you need to protect your baby and any future ones from you bodies natural defenses.

I've had anti d after each of my babies/miscarriages, and after bleeds during pregnancy too. It's no big deal, with the gremlins I had a bleed at 25 weeks and just popped up to the hospital, my midwife jabbed me and I was on my way again - such a small inconvenience compared to the possible risks of not having the jab.
I'm pleased that NZ is now coming into line with international thinking on prophylactic use of anti d during pregnancy.
