Our jug has just about packed up - it's just a cheapie from the Warehouse so no big loss. I was just wondering if anyone has a really great one they can recommend. It needs to be cordless and stainless steel and I would like a nice quiet one if possible as ours is so loud, you can't hear the tv in the lounge if it's on in the kitchen!! TIA

Ours is a rounded (rather than the usual shape) stainless steel Robert Harris one and it is great, doesn't take too long to boil, has a stay warm feature and isn't super loud. Came from briscoes and got it for less than $50 I think in their 50% off sales they have all the time.

ours is a breville, and it sounds just the same as yours summerlamb. only i think it is a bit noisy, but you can still have a conversation while it is on.
The best thing about a Breville is they have great afterservice. I had to get the jug replaced and it was a piece of cake!

All I can say is don't get a Zip one if you want a quiet one! We paid $70 and although its great, its super noisy and we have to speak louder/turn the TV up when its on.

OK - this is not stainless steel, but I my Sunbeam ceramic jug ... it keeps the water warm for ages after its boiled (so keeps energy costs down if you reboil the jug often), it's quiet, and I just love the feeling of ceramic ... it is a bit heavy to lift but you get used to that ... oh and I've had it for over a year and it's still in perfect condition. We got ours from LV Martin for about $120.
ETA - I never buy Zip anymore, too many dud products!
