     Topic: Adult reflux - GERD?     Posted: 19 September 2006 at 8:31am |

Does anyone out there have any good info on this? My Dr says if the losec doesn't help I may have a reflux problem, because at the moment I'm waking up every morning with that 'gagging' sensation and a few other things that are probably TMI !

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I may be way of here but isn't Losec for your heart or for colesterol?? My father-in-law takes it and i think it is for one of those.

Mum has losec and I think it is either for her athritis or her heart condition...shes not around to ask...
I have the gaggin thing too - I dont take anything for it but find milk really settles it down big time....bubs should have the strongest bones around with the amount of milk i have been drinking!
I hope you find something that helps

Losec can be handy for a number of things including stomach problems, I have had this issue once before and Losec really helped but doesn't seem to be doing it this time so I don't know what's different

Losec is used for reflux probs, stomsch ulcers etc, and cos it lines/coats the stomach it is used to prevent ulcers when people are using medications that can damage the throat or stomach lining,...eg. anti-inflammatory medications like Voltaren, which are used for athritis.

Hi Jax. i dont know a hell of alot about reflux in adult but turned into an expert with Jayde having severe GORD for 12 months. Things that do help in children and really should apply to you are. Elivating the head of the bed (45 degrees) Sleeping on your tummy, Trying to wait at least 3 hours between meals. No caffiene aggrivates reflux as does chocolate. Here is a good website www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz They also have a list somewhere on there of foods to avoid

Ok thanks ladies, I will check out those websites when I get the chance - and yeah Jess, I'm lucky Erin doesn't have it ! It doesn't happen all the time though, I just need to find the right solution for it this time *sigh* I guess I should be thankful it only really affects me in the mornings and I'm usually good to go by 9:30-10am....

I hope so too. The Karitane nurse visited today too and had an interesting suggestion, that I try and cut out dairy for a while. I'll give just about anything a shot ! Have had problems with dairy before, so wouldn't be surprised if it's causing me trouble again.
