Topic: 5 weeks in and anxious!     Posted: 25 June 2008 at 9:21pm |

Hey everyone. I only found out I was pregnant on Monday and I'm only 5 weeks into it. This is my first pregnancy and I'm feeling really anxious about all the things that could possibly go wrong and are outwith my control. I'm sure things will be fine, but there's so much to think about it's all a little overwhelming! (And I never imagined i'd be so tiiiiiiiiiiiired! )

Is it normal to feel so apprehensive?

   Totally normal.
Being tired is a good pregnancy symptom.

Sure is! Baby #4 is about to arrive here and I am STILL apprehensive! But I've found it gets easier the further along you get.
 Best of luck!

Very normal - just try to relax and take up a hobby to distract you from over thinking.

One peice of advice - dont read too many books - they only make you more anxious and nervous about what could happen. Instead get a good mw and just go with the flow for a while.

Unfortunately the tiredness is very normal - it does ease during the pregnancy for a while but then comes back. Enjoying resting and using it as an excuse.

   Congratulations!
The tiredness is out of this world, huh?
It's totally normal to feel anxious! Pregnancy and mummy-hood bring on so many anxieties you don't quite know what to do with them all! (I keep mine in a jar under the sink)
Exciting times

   Congratulations!

As mums we start worrying about our babies the minute we find out we've concieved, it never stops.  In the early days of my pregnancy I was really anxious too about all the things that could go wrong.  My mum reminded me that there are billions of people in the world and every single one of them made it through pregnancy.  It is overwhelming but as you said these things are out of your control so try and focus on other things..... like sleeping (you are growing a little human inside you, that takes a lot of energy).

All the best for the next 8 months.

Congratulatuions! And yes VERY NORMAL to be apprehensive and especially tired.

I agree with everything the ladies have said above and especially MrsMojo.

Try to think happy positive thoughts and focus on the good times and not what "could" happen.

 Best wishes.

My boobs getting bigger was the thing that made me test with my first pregnancy!! LOL
And this is my second pregnancy, I think I am more apprehensive than my first! And I totally forgot how tired you get... it's exhausting work growing a little person.

I found a couple of drops of Rescue Remedy took the edge off the nerves and anxiety in the early pregnancy days. We fell pregnant more or less the week we decided to start trying so it was a bit of a shock, there were a few times when I felt seriously overwhelmed so I'd recommend the RR to get you through some of the more stressy times x
