Topic: Eczema on face     Posted: 08 September 2010 at 12:40pm |

My 6 month old has developed eczema on his face. His torso/legs/arms are ok apart from 1 - 2 minor patches. How can I keep this horrible stuff at bay? I've got all the lotions and potions from the doctor which clear it up, but how do you prevent it so you don't have to use those nasty lotions like hydrocortisone? I've got aqueous cream but gets absorbed very quickly. Thanks

   hi,

i find Xma ese cream really good. it s a red tube, all natural ingredient and smells lovely so nice stuff. the tube claims that regular use should help to avoid use of strong hydrocortisone etc... unfortunately that is a case for my daughter completely but definitely helps heaps.

Some pharmacied stock this cream or look at Kumfykids.co.nz webside, really good web , they also sell this.
you can also get mitten tops for little and bigger ones to prevent stratching while asleep.

HOpe youll manage to keep eczema at bay, with my daughter it started on the face at cca 6 weeks and not 16months she has eczema on hands and legs ...torse and face is completely free. She has food allergies that cause this... but unfortunately it s hard to find out as sometimes skin prick test dont really work that well with little ones under 1...which was our case....
Good luck and hope this helps.

I use hydrocort when its bad, because it just gets out of control otherwise, but I have found Weleda eczemacomp cream works quite well, I got it from the health shop. Good Luck

I use both hydrocort and xma ease for my wee man and they seem to be making a difference.

I didnt like the sound of using the other cream's either that the doctor gave us when he thought what DS had was exzema. I then switched to using the Aveeno baby soothing relief moisturizing cream which also say's it is good for exzema, and it is wonderfull, works great, it's at the local supermarkets [:)]

Cool...I've also been told to give Paw paw ointment a go.

Will keep using hydrocortisone when I need it as it does work.

The poor wee mite has a bout of it under his lower eyelid. Its a stuggle to get it cleared up there thats for sure!

 Thanks all
