Yeah I know, this has played on my mind abit today, and if for one second I had thought they were wrong I would have been over to the proper sonographer straight away, as it is I had to ask for the referral.
In hindsight now I wish we had gone straight for the second scan with the trained sonographer instead of letting them monitor my hcg's "until they came down" which funnily enought they kept going up but only in little increments, not enough for them to think it was viable.
Also when I told the sonographer who scanned me first she already knew who I was going to say before I told her. Hmmm and then she said well this person can't have done an internal scan, I said yes actually they did.   The sonographer wasn't very pleased
I will never believe what FA say in terms of what they can see on a scan in future, I think I will always insist on going to a sonographer in future. And this is what I will advise anyone else in this situation, but yes went in there today and whilst the nurses were happy and excited nothing was mentioned about this mistake!

I had a similar experience. Confirmed miscarriage by scan and then a week later a nice healthy baby. He's 9 years old now. Mine was earlier though (6 week scan due to bleeding) and I didn't have the specialist care you had as it was a regular pregnancy (not ivf etc) My heart goes out to how you have felt over the last week. I know what I went thru and I didn't have the added ivf stress etc. I got really angry which of course doesn't benefit anyone but I think part of the process. Try and not let it play on your mind too much and enjoy being preggos. (easier said than done) Hope you have a happy and healthy 7 months.

Hey kiwi2, thanks for your post, it was a terrible week last week, and although I now know the specialist made a huge error & should have sent me for a second opinion straight away, I am definitely not one to hold on to the angry feelings which flicker into my mind every now and then.

I am focusing on enjoying the pregnancy, because as you said ivf was enough of an emotional rollercoaster without holding on to other emotional stuff as well.
So glad to see you have a healthy 9 year old now

your story reminded when i first found out i was pregnant with Gabriel (now 6) and Anji - the lady running the recurrent miscarriage clinic at the time - said to me you are pregnant unless i tell you otherwise! this after my concern about low and slow HCG levels!

   Congratulations!!

I too had two weeks of slow rising hcgs...it completely destroyed our christmas. We went for a formal scan to confirm the miscarriage - and there was a heartbeat! I was completely wiped out emotionally, more so when I then spent a week bleeding and needed another scan.

I am now 33 weeks pregnant, and will never do serial hcgs again.
