Topic: Jolly Jumpers     Posted: 11 December 2006 at 10:35am |

I bought a Jolly Jumper for Alyssa yesterday as she has been able to fully hold her head up for ages and also loves it when you hold her to stand up. What I was wondering is, do babies usually take to these straight away or do you have to teach them to bounce? I have only put her in it a couple of times and she just stands there looking shocked haha

It took Andrew a few times to get used to it. Once they get going thou there is no stopping them.

mikey started bouncing straight away but i think that's because he was a bit older when he first went in one. i think if you bounce her she'll get the idea soon enough and do it herself.

and that's such a cute photo, she really does look a bit shocked doesn't she.

Lachlan took to it straight away and he still loves it. When we used to take him out he used to cry as saying "hey I haven't finished in here".

What a lil cutie! Astons getting one of them for Christmas! Now that you asked this question I'll remember it for if I need to know! How old is Alyssa by the way?

When we put Briona in one the first few times she had no idea what to do either. But Hannah (1 1/2 yrs older) was really keen to show/pass her things. So there would be all these books on the floor by Briona's feet and trying to look down at them all the time kept her bouncing and spinning a little too! And I think it was after that that she "got it"

Ella went in one at almost 5 months and just stood there for a while too I used to hold the bar and bounce her, and she got the hang of it quite quickly..

Ashlee took ages to get used to hers! Probably about a dozen times into it she started properly bouncing and twirling rather than just sort of half-heartedly moving one foot then the next. When she gets a bit tired in it, she picks up her feet and just 'hangs' hahaha!

Erin "borrowed" some time in one about a month and a half ago, but just hung there - and wasn't *quite* ready. We bought her one last weekend though, and she sort of understands !

Erin looks a bit bewildered with all her new things. Cutie!!
Jake was very "helpful" and pushed Taine around the place so our jolly jumper was more like a swing. i kept telling him off, but Taine LOVED it and giggled away. He only really started bouncing properly when he started crawling - maybe a leg strength thing.
