Topic: Christmas not such a great time.     Posted: 18 December 2007 at 6:56pm |

After reading and posting in the waht you doing for christmas thread i relised that unfortunality for us christmas is alway a litte sad casue it was about this time that MIL passed away she was the glue for the family. We use to have the best time's on christmas day lot's of laughing etc now it just feel's dead no one seem's excited including me. I am actually sitting here in tear's almost dreading the day. This time last year we talked about how we were going to go all out for christmas this year etc, and we just have not done this partly due to lack of planning and money, but mainly cause the reality is it just feel a litte wrong with out MIL.
Thankyou I needed to get this off my chest I guess I am all hormonal at the moment too which is not helping.

I think xmas is the time of year where we really notice who ISN"T around, rather than who is. i know my xmases without my grandfather were really difficult. I think what got me through was just trying to appreciate the wonderful family that i had around. I know my grandfather would've kicked my butt if I moped so tried to enjoy myself as best i could.

I hope you guys can have a quiet, but happy xmas and remember your MIL, and remember that i'm sure she would want to be happy at this time of year.

 Big hugs.

big hugs guys. My xmas is gonna suck this year too, im really exciting for the kids but my dad (step but been around since i was a baby) is leaving my mum and moving out 3 days after christmas so we have to pretend everything is fine and play happy families for the kids even though Im totally gutted. Plus i need to have my dog put to sleep cos he is just so old and miserable but cant afford too, cant even afford to buy presents for hubby this year nor he for me but thank god i got so many of my presents through out the year. Christmas is definately gonna be all about the kids this year thats for sure.

well my dad died on dec 23 last year, so we willb e missing someone this year as well. It sucks.

Still, we are going to have a geat day, though, as that is what he would have wanted. What we are going to do is light a big candle beside the last picture taken of him, and have a sad, tearful 5 mins max, then enjoy the day, his candle burning for him, and no tears etc. It will be hard, but we want to make the day a happy one.

Wow what a cool idea about the candle. I think the thing for us is we won't really be getting together so it is not just like someone is missing its like the whole day is diffiernt if that make's scense. Thank you all so much for posting it is good to know there are other's that are having to deal with this makes me think outside my own selfish life. my2angles we never get anything for each other I happened to get new glassse only cause the kids decided to brake mine again rigth near christmas.

Annie, thats a lovely idea In my DHs family this year we have had his great-nana and pop both die so there will be a bit of a hole there this year.
Big hugs Deb (and Annie and anyone else). I hope you still have a lovely Christmeas, and like someone else said, those people would want you to remember them but still enjoy the day.
