Topic: Early pregnancy after recurrent MC     Posted: 09 April 2010 at 9:47am |

I've just found out I'm expecting again after 3 miscarriages last year. My specialist thinks they were due to a progesterone deficiency which i am now on supplements for. My question is, have any of you been told to take it easy during the first couple of months? I know for a "normal" pregnancy you are told that light exercise etc is beneficial but I'm just wondering if I should carry on my walking, rough and tumble with DD, carrying heavy things, vacuuming etc? I'll be speaking to the nurse on Monday for my next hcg results so will talk to her about it but just wondering what others have been told. TIA

Personally if it were me I'd be cautious but not wrap myself up in cotton wool. So like I'd still walk and do the house work etc, I just wouldn't let myself get too hot or heart rate too high

Kelly my specialist told me that I was to take it easy and to put my feet up as much as I can. I told her I was really busy at work etc and she almost threatened me with full bed rest.
I asked her about my walks and she said as long as I didn't over exert myself.
Sometimes I think it's all out of control (apart from if we chose to do something quite dangerous). DH has been helping out with housework but I still have to do some things.
I think they say that just because we have had 3 miscarriages.
Fx for sticky babies for both of us.

   Congratulations.

I had two mc's then got pregnant whilst using progesterone pessaries. I didn't ask my specialist about exercising as i decided myself just to ease back abit, so no tae kwon do but still went for walks and the occasional jog on the treadmill. As for the rough and tumble i still did that with my daughter.

After the twelve week mark i upped my exercise a bit to include swimming, so i walked and swam right up to when i had DD.

   It's a hard one isn't it!

When I was pregnant after my m/c I wrapped myself in cotton wool completely- didn't walk, didn't lift, was really strict with food, drinks, meds...I think I wanted to feel that at least then I would have done everything humanly possible to make baby stick.
But looking back now I don't think normal daily activities would have made a difference- if baby was going to stick then a walk wouldn't cause a m/c.

What do you want to do? I would go with your instinct. It must be very hard with another child to run around after too!

Hi congrats on your good news! I was the same as mummytobesep, had a m/c in november, and then when I got pregnant again- with the next one I took everything super easy, ate really well, and even went to a nathropath for herbs to help avoid m/c, and we lost that baby too! So guess it just shows if its meant to be its meant to be!
 FIngers crossed for youxx
