Haha sounds horrible but DF reckons they smell like bad feet LMAO..
What can i soak them in or how can i make them smell funky fresh again?

i use to have stinky nappy problem with Astins nappies so i started putting detol through the wash with them and it made a HUGE difference!!!! they all smell fresh and sanitised all the time!!!!....well until he wears them! lol
I also use to use the ecostore powder but they were starting to smell rather swampy! so i swaped to persil and they are fine now!

I have a box of ecostore.. but i dont like it.. so iv been using cold power? maybe i should use persil.. and get some dettol.

the sun is out today, might go hang them out.. do i mix the baking soda and vinegar together? if i dont have vinegar can i just use baking soda? how much? and can i soak in baking soda diluted with water?

It might be the cold power... its one of a group of brands that tend to not be the best for MCN. I cold wash everything, with Persil, and haven't had any problems so far that were not caused by my son being helpful and putting an extra scoop of washing powder into the machine halfway through a wash cycle!
You could try putting your nappies through a water only wash, and see if there is a lot of bubbles in the wastewater (that would indicate powder buildup on the nappies). For a baking soda and vinegar wash, I put the baking soda in instead of washing powder, and vinegar in instead of fabric softener (not that I use fabric softener, its just that part of the machine that I put the vinegar into). I use about 1/4 cup baking soda and about 1/2 cup vinegar, and do an extra rinse at the end with nothing extra at all.

I love Dettol laundry rinse. It isn't very cheap but it goes a long way and as well as sanitising it makes our nappies smell really nice and fresh like eucalyptus.

I've been using dettol as my inserts started to smell and that did the trick.

I just use ecostore, also I thought it wasn't good to wash them on cold? I don't use anything and mine still smell fresh. We always try to hang them outside though so the sunshine might be keeping them fresh.
Teatree oil is great I use that on his wipes and in the nappy bucket to keep that fresh

mine smelt swampy with ecostore too. then I tried drive and they smelt nice but I read it wasnt giood for naps so I went to persil sensitive and the smell swampy  now I am trying another "eco" one that for the life of me I cant recall the name. comes in brown box with lavender in it.

Cold water isn't bad for your nappies, but I personally found that it didn't clean them quite as well as hot.  So I used to wash on cold most of the time and then do a hot wash once every week or couple of weeks. Then a strip with vinegar and baking soda (hot wash with 1/2c vinegar, rinse with 1/2 cup of baking soda, then another rinse) to keep them smelling nice. Also put a few drops of tea tree oil in the rinse now and again as it smelled nice (? Debatable!) and is a natural anti-bacterial/anti-fungal oily type business.
Baking soda and vinegar neutralise each other, so don't mix them together as they need to work individually.
