Topic: Bedding for Baby     Posted: 05 November 2008 at 5:48pm |

   Hello

The Feb 2009 mums have been discussing bedding... are you allowed to use quilts on baby's bed if they are made of natural things? Or are they a no no like duvets until baby is about a year old?

I used those cot quilt thingies on the three big girls beds, but lil miss doesn't actually have any bedding, she sleeps in a merino sleep sack with one blanket tucked up around her.

I know people say not to use duvets until one year old, but Caden has had a duvet every since he has been in his cot(since about 2 months old).
He is abolutley fine, he is in a safe T Sleep and cant go no where, he kicks his blankets off these days if anything.
But its totally up to you

I used a cot quilt for the first 4 months and when it got colder I changed to a cot duvet for my first. This time round I am using varying cot duvets depending on the temperature. I never had any problems with the duvet (in a duvet cover).

Cooper had a quilt from day 1.   No problems with that at all. I just made sure that the quilt went up to around just below his armpits... he was also wrapped.

Yep same here! And I tuck it in tight. He isnt wrapped anymore cos he hates it and gets out of it, but he is in a sleep bag.

Yep, cot quilt here for Ella from her first night in the cot, and the newbie will have a cot quilt too. I know 'they' say not to use them for littlies, but in all honesty I can't see why. Maybe a loose (not fixed to the inner) duvet cover poses some risk, but cot duvets aren't made like that anyway.
