Just wondering if there are any recommendations for private obs in Chch and what their charges are? And what services they offer?

What are you looking for? I was under Sarah Wakeman for TTC and she was excellent. Initial consultation was $300ish, but I'm not sure what her obstetric charges are.

If you are looking for an obstetrician purely for your pregnancy, I contacted these people: http://coa.org.nz/ (Christchurch Obstetric Associates)

The charges were pretty steep - around $3000. Too much for us so we just stuck with the midwife. Basically, when I rang up and spoke with them, they offer all the same services you get with a midwife. When I asked them what were the added benefits, they said just the training and expertise. But as far as I'm concerned, midwives have excellent expertise, and training specifically for pregnancy and birth, so we weren't fussed.

Thanks Tan. Yes, that is expensive, hmmm. I wasn't happy with my last midwife or birth, so that is why I was looking for alternatives. Maybe I just need to work to find a better midwife instead!
