Topic: Uneven hip creases     Posted: 24 March 2012 at 10:23pm |

My 5month old has uneven hip creases and has an appointment at the hospital in may... he doesn't have clicky hips and has no stiffness in his hips or anything, but the creases are obviously unsymmetrical... What could this mean? Has anyone else been through this? I'm really worried :(

Same here - no signs of dicky hips other than the thigh creases, pediatrician said that if she hadn't been breech he wouldn't even have sent her for x-rays. Came back all clear, as he expected.

Can't remember what age my son had it (before 1 anyway), he had uneven creases, and one leg was slightly shorter than the other. Got referred to the orthopedic department and everything was fine. They did xrays, thoroughly checked him out and everything was fine. He grew out of it all.

DS had uneven creases, my GP noticed and though he didn't have clicky hips she sent him for x-rays just incase. It all came back clear as she suspected
It's awful that you have to wait until May for the appt, I hope I have my fingers crossed that it's nothing more than the uneven creases!

Ok well reading this makes me feel a little better lol, his legs are both the same length too it's just the very uneven creases. They were slightly uneven at his 6week checkup but are much more so now. He doesn't have any problems rolling over or anything though.

It does suck that the appointment is so far away, specially cause I worry so much! But I can't do much about that, short of shelling out for private medical care... not gonna happen!

What kind of problems can this be an indication of, does anyone know? I tried having a look on the internet but I'm no more enlightened now than I was.

My DD's creases were always uneven. Hipes weren't clicky and xray showed nothing but she was very slow to crawl (13 months) and walk (17 months) and she dragged one leg slightly for a while. She seemed to have one weaker leg but I'm not really sure if it was related to the leg creases. She's grown out of it now but for a while I did worry, despite the xray showng nothing.

My DS had uneven thigh creases. He's lucky though that his Pappa is a ortho doc and checked him out - said all fine and he is. Sorry you have to wait so long. You could try calling seeing if they could get you in on a cancellation?

My DD had these as well - very obviously uneven. She had many checks, ultrasound and an X-ray too. Turns out she was just a bit chubby!

No problems whatsoever, and she was walking by 12 months.
